The Assembly of the Region of Murcia has declared this Tuesday "persona non grata" the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, in a vote that went ahead with the 27 votes of the Popular Party (PP) and Vox, in addition to the two deputies of the Mixed Group, former members of the party of Santiago Abascal, who registered this initiative, while the 13 deputies of the Socialist Party (PSOE) voted against it.
The deputy of the Mixed Group Virginia Martínez defended the motion with derogatory expressions and foul language, an intervention that forced the president of the Chamber, Visitación Martínez, to call her attention on two occasions. Martínez attributed the presentation of the initiative to a "popular acclamation" linked, as she explained, to the political management of the head of the Executive, to the corruption cases affecting the PSOE, and to the economic consequences of his decisions for the autonomous community.
During her speech, the parliamentarian assured that Pedro Sánchez is "de facto a persona non grata within his own country" and stated that his continuity at the head of the Government poses a danger to democracy, security, and the economy. Furthermore, she accused the president of lacking principles and of remaining in power "at any cost".
The response of PSOE, Vox, and PP
On behalf of the PSOE, deputy Mari Carmen Fernández presented an amendment to the entire motion, in which she questioned the initiative and demanded that the PP explain «how far they are willing to go against Pedro Sánchez».
Vox deputy Antonio Martínez accused Sánchez of leading an Executive marked by corruption, the deterioration of public services, and the abandonment of the Region of Murcia, while PP deputy Víctor Martínez maintained that the initiative does not question institutional respect for the President of the Government, but rather expresses rejection of his political decisions and the treatment that, in his opinion, the autonomous community receives.
