The Popular Party has closed the investigation committee in the Senate on the energy blackout after the recent appearances of Vice President Sara Aagesen and the president of Redeia, Beatriz Corredor, concluding that the Government of Pedro Sánchez “disregarded the warnings” that alerted of possible failures in the system. According to the opinion promoted by the popular party, the Executive did not adopt the necessary measures despite having prior information about the risks.

During the work of the commission, the PP has maintained that there were technical warnings that were not addressed in time, which, in their opinion, aggravated the consequences of the blackout. In this sense, the popular party considers it proven that there was a lack of foresight and reaction on the part of the Government in the face of a situation that, they assure, could have been mitigated.

The document approved by the PP in the Upper House underlines that the Executive's management evidenced failures in coordination and decision-making, and directly holds the Government responsible for not having acted diligently in response to the warnings received. The commission has been marked by the political confrontation, with the PSOE rejecting these conclusions.

For their part, the socialists have defended the Executive's actions and have accused the PP of using the commission for partisan purposes, questioning the validity of its conclusions. The closure of the commission in the Senate thus reflects the lack of political consensus regarding the causes and responsibilities of the blackout.
