The Popular Party has intensified its criticism of the Government of Pedro Sánchez after 26 days have passed since thousands of people entered Ceuta through the border with Morocco. In this regard, the party's spokesperson, Ester Muñoz, has criticized the Executive's management and has demanded that the President of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, provide explanations through an appearance in the Congress of Deputies.
The spokesperson for Alberto Núñez Feijóo's party appeared live this Tuesday on the ‘Onda Cero’ program Más de uno, presented by Miguel Ondarreta, where she stated: "Pedro Sánchez has told all Spaniards that Spain was attacked in its territorial integrity, but he has not told us who and what he has done to stop it, nor how he will prevent it on future occasions".
Along the same lines, she criticized that still, after the start of the crisis between July 30 and 31, the president has not given explanations and has announced that they do not rule out summoning him to the Senate, the chamber where they have the majority and where they have requested the attendance of several ministers but they have not attended.
On the other hand, she spoke about the appearance of the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, which will take place this Tuesday starting at 12:30 p.m. In this regard, she stated: “I expect very little.” "It is evident that she has been uncomfortable on many occasions due to the Government's stance," she continued.
The 'popular' spokesperson was also asked about the Government's recent move to establish a single command led by Minister Ángel Víctor Torres, in response to the crisis management. On this issue, Muñoz argued: "They told us that there was normality and that no extraordinary measures needed to be applied."
Ester Muñoz has advocated for expediting the return to Morocco of people who irregularly entered Ceuta, although she stressed that any action must be carried out respecting the right to asylum and guarantees of international protection.
Regarding unaccompanied minors, the PP spokesperson questioned that the solution is limited to distributing them among other autonomous communities. Instead, she demanded that each case be analyzed individually to determine the appropriate response.
Muñoz has also questioned the holding of the Sectoral Conference on Childhood scheduled for this Thursday and has raised the possibility that some communities governed by the PP may not attend. According to her, several regional governments would have already communicated their intention not to participate, considering that the central Executive is trying to transfer a responsibility to the autonomous communities that, in their opinion, corresponds to the Government.
The popular leader has also criticized the change of criteria announced for transferring minors from Ceuta to the Peninsula, especially because the measure initially contemplates girls. In this regard, she has demanded that the Government clarify the reason for this decision and has asked: "Why only girls and not boys?". In her opinion, the Executive must explain what criteria it has used to establish this difference.
Feijóo demanded the activation of the National Security Law
The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has extraordinarily convened this Tuesday the National Security Council to analyze the situation in Ceuta after the massive entry of migrant people into the autonomous city. The meeting will be attended by the main officials responsible for the State's security areas, including the ministers of Interior, Defense and Foreign Affairs, the director of the CNI, the Chief of Staff of the Defense (JEMAD) and the director of the National Security Department. However, this measure was demanded by the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, on July 30, the day the entry occurred.
Feijóo, demanded through a video he published on his X account, the activation of the National Security Law to face the crisis. That same day, coinciding with the beginning of the massive arrival of migrants in Ceuta, Feijóo asked the Government to activate article 23 of the National Security Law and declare a state of emergency. Among the measures he also demanded were the closure of borders, the mobilization of the Army in the area and the promotion of diplomatic actions with Morocco and the European Union.
