This Thursday, June 25, the Popular Party deputy Jaime Miguel de los Santos, has positioned the PP as the great defender of the rights of the LGTBI collective during the debate in the Congress, due to the law that will take conversion therapies to the Penal Code. Although he will vote against said norm, de los Santos has used his turn to speak to vindicate his party and to name himself as a 'proud gay': "I am from the PP and a faggot, and I am proud of both things" the deputy highlighted, not without first thanking Alberto Núñez Feijóo for "not looking at anyone for who they love or who they sleep with."

Jaime de los Santos also wanted to state that: "The PP celebrates Pride and sets its red lines in any government coalition in defense of the rights of the collective," he said regarding his pacts with Vox. "Wherever it governs (the PP), it celebrates our rights with determination and vehemence," he added, citing Madrid or Valencia as examples, despite the fact that the executives of these two communities have cut regional LGTBI laws and refuse to hang the flag of said collective.

The PP has voted against all state laws on LGTBI matters, from the equal marriage of 2005 to the Trans Law of 2023. Nevertheless, the deputy has praised the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez Almeida, whom he called "mayor of Spain," despite his controversies with the Pride campaign in the capital. Finally, to justify his opposition to the law that punishes conversion therapies with prison, regardless of the victim's consent, he alluded to Miguel Ángel Blanco, assassinated by ETA in 1997: "Consent is the basis of our State, it is essential. Did Miguel Ángel Blanco consent to having his life taken?", he concluded.
