The deputy secretary of Health and Social Policy of the PP, Carmen Fúnez, has refused to give credibility to the statements of former ministerial advisor Koldo García, who claimed that a lawyer from the Popular Party offered him one million euros in exchange for information against the government of Pedro Sánchez.

Asked about these statements upon her arrival at a health breakfast organized by Europa Press, Fúnez responded with a brief and blunt "What a source", in allusion to the testimony of the former advisor, who claims that he agreed with the hitherto PP lawyer to pay for his defenses and one million euros to obtain information aimed at "overthrowing" the President of the Government.

From the national leadership of the PP, party sources assured this Thursday that this version is "absolutely false", in a first official reaction to accusations that have raised political tension between the main parties.

Pedro Sánchez asks Alberto Núñez Feijóo for explanations

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has asked the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, for explanations after the statements released by Koldo García. Sánchez stressed that, "given these very serious accusations, Feijóo should give some explanation", just as, he recalled, the popular party usually demands accountability from the Executive.

The words of the head of the Executive come in a context of increasing exchange of accusations, after the former ministerial advisor pointed to an alleged offer linked to information against the Government.

The PSOE is studying legal actions for an alleged "dirty war"

In parallel, sources from the PSOE have indicated that the party is studying taking legal action to investigate this matter. The socialist organization secretary, Rebeca Torró, has gone further and has accused the PP of "pure dirty war of extreme gravity".

With this position, the socialist leadership places the case in the judicial and political arena, while maintaining pressure on the main opposition party pending further explanations from Alberto Núñez Feijóo and the popular national leadership.
