Alfonso Rueda defended this Monday that Alberto Núñez Feijóo's positions on abortion and euthanasia remain the same as those established in the last National Congress of the PP, and has tried to cut short a controversy that, according to him, the left is fueling to divert the political focus.
The president of the Xunta and leader of the PP of Galicia, has placed this discussion in a partisan combat arena. In his opinion, there are sectors of the left very interested in talking about these issues in order not to debate about corruption, housing, economic figures or tax increases.
The Xunta denies a change of course and attributes the noise to a maneuver to change the subject
Rueda insisted that he does not want to contribute to this clash and stressed that what Feijóo said last week in an interview on Cadena Ser "was what he said in Congress a year and a half ago."
With that argument, the Galician leader has tried to present the discussion as a repetition of already known positions, not as a rectification or a fundamental shift. In any case, he has guaranteed that in Galicia "the law is being strictly complied with" in these matters. But the regional president has not considered the political crossfire resolved: he has maintained that the debate is part of an attempt by the left to "divert attention" and has concluded that he will not fuel these controversies.
The controversy over artificial intelligence opens another front, although Rueda sets limits
In parallel, Rueda has responded to the controversy over the use of videos created with artificial intelligence from the social networks of the Popular Party. He defended that in that content "it was clearly stated that it was AI."

The Galician president has also inverted the reproach and has pointed out that those who complain the most are, in his opinion, those who at the time were "most transgressive" and will still do so from now until the end of the campaign. Even so, he has admitted that "there is no absolute open bar", but limits that must always be respected. He added that social networks are for being transgressive, also with "political inventiveness", but with respect and a clear boundary.
