After it became known that the judge of the Audiencia Nacional Santiago Pedraz has agreed to direct the procedure against the president of SEPI, Belén Gualda, and another 24 people, after finding indications of criminality in the part that investigates alleged rigging, mediations, and influences over public and private companies, the President of the Government Pedro Sánchez has spoken out.
The president has expressed his firm support for the president of the Spanish Society of Industrial Participations (SEPI), after her indictment in the 'Leire Díez case' for alleged irregularities in the awarding of public contracts for the collection of irregular commissions. "Of course, absolutely," Sánchez assured when asked if he supported Gualda. He made these statements upon leaving an event where he presented the integration and citizenship plan, at the headquarters of the College of Architects of Madrid (COAM).
In this way, Sánchez has personally taken on the support for Gualda by declaring that he maintains "full confidence in her," because in his opinion, in the proceedings, "no element appears that compromises her." The Government also highlighted the "rigor" of the files of the Fund for Support for the Solvency of Strategic Companies (FASEE) whose awards are being investigated by Justice.
After all this, the magistrate will soon summon the investigated parties to testify, including the former president of the public company Enusa José Vicente Berlanga; the CEO of Tubos Reunidos, Carlos López de las Heras, and the founder of Forestalia, Fernando Samper, among others, as there are indications of criminality.
