The PSOE has asked the leader of the Popular Party (PP), Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to stop “now” the “violent drift” that the socialists attribute to his party, after the alleged slap that a popular councilor from Ruesga would have given to the Government delegate in Cantabria, the socialist Pedro Casares, and the appearance of an image of a coffin with the face of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, in Hoyocasero (Ávila).
Pedro Casares filed a complaint this Monday with the Guardia Civil against the PP councilor in the Ruesga City Council, David Setién, for an alleged physical and verbal assault during the Arredondo Livestock Fair, held this Sunday, November 1, when the Government delegate in Cantabria was on an official visit.
According to the complaint, the councilor approached Pedro Casares to reproach him for his stance on wolf protection, at which point, always according to the socialist leader's version, he would have slapped him, which forced the accompanying bodyguard to intervene. Casares is also the general secretary of the PSOE in Cantabria.
Condemnation in Hoyocasero for a coffin with the image of Pedro Sánchez
In parallel, the mayor of the Ávila town of Hoyocasero, Iván Picós, of the PP, has issued a statement condemning the placement, on the balcony of the Town Hall, of a coffin with the image of Pedro Sánchez and has also filed a complaint with the Guardia Civil for the facts to be investigated and the perpetrators identified.
The popular mayor has publicly rejected the action and has referred the matter to the security forces, in an action that adds to the investigation opened by the complaint filed by Pedro Casares in Cantabria.
Ferraz accuses the PP of “normalizing violence”
In a statement, the PSOE has denounced that the PP is “normalizing violence” in the electoral pre-campaign and has demanded that Alberto Núñez Feijóo “must stop the violent drift of his party now”. For the socialists, in a democracy “one can disagree”, but “a physical aggression or representing the death of the President of the Government is not admissible”.
From Ferraz, the party has considered that these are not “simple verbal excesses or pre-campaign anecdotes”, but “serious facts that demand a firm response”. In that vein, the PSOE has insisted on asking the leader of the PP to act “immediately” to stop what it defines as a “violent race” that, in its opinion, “has gone from hate speech to physical aggression”.
“Less than a month before November 29, it's frightening to think how far the normalization of these behaviors can go. Violence can never be an electoral card,” the socialists have censored.
Rebeca Torró points to Feijóo as “main responsible”
For her part, the Secretary of Organization of the PSOE, Rebeca Torró, has also pointed to Alberto Núñez Feijóo as “the main responsible for this violent race, which has gone from insult to aggression”. In a message published on the social network X, Torró added that “this far-right has no place in democracy”.
