The Federal Executive Commission of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) approved this Monday the team that will lead Pedro Sánchez's campaign for the general elections on November 29. Three women will be in charge of the organization, strategy, and electoral program: Rebeca Torró, María Jesús Montero, and Cristina Narbona. The socialist leadership is launching the campaign just hours after the announcement of the early election and calls for broader support to maintain a progressive government.
The party has backed its secretary general and presents the election as a decision about social rights and the future of the country. "Rights versus the right" is the message it has disseminated on its networks after the meeting. "The 29N elections are not just another election," states the PSOE, which commits to "earning people's trust, inspiring, and winning again".
The Executive has also approved the internal calendar for preparing the candidacies, which will culminate on October 17 with the ratification of the lists in the Federal Committee, the party's highest governing body between congresses. According to socialist sources cited by RTVE, there will be no primaries to elect the candidate for the Presidency of the Government, so Sánchez will once again lead the socialist bid.
The meeting in Ferraz, presided over by the President of the Government and leader of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, comes after Congress's rejection of the two housing decrees on Friday and the massive demonstrations over the weekend. Sánchez defended this morning the need for a broader progressive majority to overcome parliamentary gridlock. The socialists are taking this request to the campaign and point to housing as one of the major issues on which voters will have to decide.
Derechos frente a derechas. Las elecciones del #29N no son unas elecciones más.

Three women at the head of the campaign
Rebeca Torró, PSOE Organization Secretary, will assume the general coordination of the campaign. María Jesús Montero, Deputy General Secretary and General Secretary of the PSOE of Andalusia, will be in charge of strategic coordination. Cristina Narbona, president of the party, will direct the elaboration of the electoral program. These are the three responsible individuals who will lead the campaign, with differentiated functions to prepare the organization, the message, and the proposals.
The approved committee includes Borja Cabezón as assistant to the general coordination and head of electoral action, while Montse Mínguez, spokesperson for the Federal Executive, will also serve as campaign spokesperson. Pilar Bernabé will be in charge of the Equality area and Ana Manzano of Communication, according to the composition communicated by the PSOE.
The preparation of public events is in the hands of Elisa Garrido, and Aránzazu Figueroa will direct the youth campaign. Víctor Gutiérrez will be responsible for digital impact, Anabel Mateos for mobilization, and César Mogo for external voting. The distribution thus incorporates specific teams for social networks, youth participation, and Spaniards who vote from outside the country.
The structure is completed with Alfonso Gómez de Celis, First Vice President of Congress, who will be in charge of documentation and support for candidacies; Ana María Fuentes, head of Administration; and Óscar Díaz, at the head of the area called "D-Day", dedicated to election day. In total, the committee will have fifteen responsible individuals to organize the campaign until November 29.
With the approved appointments, the next internal meeting will be the ratification of the lists on October 17. The party has less than two weeks to complete this process. Narbona, for her part, will direct the work on the program with which the PSOE will seek to renew the support of voters.
Expand the progressive majority
The political message accompanying the agreements insists on mobilizing the entire progressive electorate. "We need to broaden support to continue with a progressive Government that continues to transform this country," the PSOE states in its communiqué. The party accuses PP and Vox of representing "the coalition of vultures, setbacks, and fear" and contrasts this project with the defense and expansion of rights.
The call extends to the forces to the left of the PSOE, who face the early election with their candidacy still unresolved. Before entering the meeting, Montse Mínguez called for a more united left. "The better and more united the left is, the better it will be to stop cuts and to stop regression," she stated. The socialist spokesperson in Congress, Patxi López, also expressed his confidence that this space will understand what is at stake and that socialist voters will mobilize.
Pensions and labor conditions appear among the first issues of this campaign. Mínguez accused Vox of wanting to "cut pensions" and the PP of proposing cuts in labor rights, after the proposals of ultra deputy José María Figaredo on a pension model with individual capitalization and of Alberto Núñez Feijóo on the control of sick leave. The PSOE wants to confront these measures with its defense of public pensions, collective bargaining, and public services.
The socialists also claim the increases in the minimum wage, the annual revaluation of pensions, and the recognition of Palestine as part of their government balance. Looking ahead to the next legislature, they place housing, artificial intelligence, and climate change among the challenges that will require new decisions. The program that Narbona will coordinate must specify the proposals with which the party will address these issues.
The defense of the electoral system has been present in the statements at the entrance of Ferraz. Mínguez asked Feijóo to disavow Isabel Díaz Ayuso and Santiago Abascal for sowing doubts about postal voting, while the Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes, Félix Bolaños, defended its guarantees. The socialist leadership includes this controversy in its warning about the consequences of a possible PP and Vox government.
The mobilization will have its first event this Saturday, October 10, in Seville, where Sánchez will participate in an event with María Jesús Montero. According to '20minutos', which cites party and Moncloa sources, it will be his first pre-campaign event after announcing the November 29 elections.
