The Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, has assured that the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, “is devoted to pure and hard Trumpism,” following positions that point to a possible electoral fraud, and has supported that many countries of the European Union “envy” the Spanish electoral system for being “extremely robust.”
Urtasun has denounced that, after the early election on the upcoming November 29, “some voices from the PP” have wanted to “stir up the hoax” of an alleged fraud in the general elections in relation to postal voting.
Defense of institutions and the Spanish electoral system
The Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, has linked these criticisms to an attempt to transfer political dynamics associated with Donald Trump to Spain, and has warned that questioning the functioning of institutions through “lies” can cast doubt on the fairness of an election.
“When I say that what is at stake in the next elections is to prevent Spain from falling into the sphere of influence of Mr. Donald Trump, I also mean that the functioning of our institutions begins to be questioned through hoaxes that spread lies, questioning, for example, the fairness of elections in Spain,” he stated.
“Stop spreading hoaxes”
Urtasun has demanded that the president of the Popular Party “stop spreading hoaxes and attacking institutions,” while defending that in Spain the electoral bodies “work well” and that the system is “extremely robust,” to the point that, he affirmed, it is a source of envy in numerous European countries.
“Because the institutions and electoral bodies in this country work well, they always have, and therefore, those who try to bring Trumpism to our country, we will not let them pass,” declared the Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun.
