Rocío Osorno lashed out on social media against the participants of the encampment in Puerta del Sol, in Madrid, and focused her criticism on the state in which, in her opinion, the square was left after the eviction.

The Sevillian influencer and designer published a message in which she questioned the legitimacy of the protest and wrote: "What voice can you have to protest if this is the example you set?" She then finished with another blunt phrase: "What a shame," although that judgment on the visible result does not by itself prove the content of the demands.

The protest ended with a nighttime eviction and two arrests

The criticism comes after the Police evicted the encampment this Tuesday, which had begun on September 26 and which for more than a month brought together people and groups in defense of the right to decent housing.

The intervention took place at dawn and resulted in two arrests, while municipal cleaning services removed the installations and belongings that remained in the public space. Osorno's message is based on that visible deterioration, but it does not modify the substance of the claims that sustained the protest.

Her link with Vox and other controversies on social media

The influencer's reaction once again brings her into public debate due to her comments on social media and her relationship with Jacobo González-Robatto, a Vox deputy and her ex-husband, with whom she has two children.

The relationship already caused controversy in 2020, when it emerged that Robatto had been elected senator for Santiago Abascal's party. At the time, Osorno defended on Instagram that women can think differently from their partners and stated: "Fortunately, women can afford to have ideals and ways of thinking different from those of our husbands."

It has not been the only occasion in which her publications have generated controversy. In April 2023, the influencer lashed out against other content creators who attended the April Fair to generate publications and interactions. "The Fair is not engagement, the fair is illusion. I had to say it," she wrote on her social media, in a reproach that was interpreted as a criticism of the posturing of some colleagues in the profession.

Her words provoked responses from other influencers, including Violeta Mangriñán and Natalia Osona, who came out to address the criticism. The controversy also coincided with another confrontation involving Osorno during that April Fair, this time with designer Jorge Sánchez, who accused her of not having provided him with photographs of a dress he had lent her. The Sevillian responded by defending the conditions of collaborations and the rights over photographic material.
