Pedro Sánchez has resorted to music to distance himself from Javier Milei in the midst of the Argentine president's visit to Spain. The head of the Executive shared an image on X this Wednesday in which he appears listening to Fanático, by Lali Espósito, the song that became one of the most talked-about episodes of the confrontation between the artist and the Argentine leader. A choice that acquires special significance at a time of tension between both leaders.

The publication coincides with Milei's stay in Madrid, where he is scheduled to meet with Isabel Díaz Ayuso and hold contacts with Vox representatives. In addition, the Argentine president has once again attacked Sánchez during his speech at the New Economy Forum, in which he described the head of the Government as an "unpresentable dictator". In this context, the Spanish president's musical choice is interpreted as an indirect response to the Argentine president.

Lali Espósito's song that became a response to Milei

To understand the background of the publication, one must go back to September 2024, when Lali Espósito released Fanático. The song came after months of public confrontation with Javier Milei, who had questioned the artist's participation in festivals financed with public money and even disparagingly called her "Lali Depósito".

The singer responded with an irony-laden pop-rock track, whose lyrics allude to those who criticize a person while closely following all their movements. The music video also gave rise to political interpretations: one of its characters, with sideburns and a leather jacket, was linked by numerous viewers to the Argentine president.

Despite the interpretations that the release sparked, Lali explained that the song reflected the social climate Argentina was going through and avoided limiting it to a single recipient. In an interview with Susana Giménez, she left a phrase that summarized her stance: "The jacket fits whoever wants to wear it".

Milei again attacks Sánchez during his visit to Spain

The gesture of the President of the Government comes at a new stage of tension between both leaders. Milei is in Madrid to participate in various events and meet with like-minded political representatives, among them Isabel Díaz Ayuso, who maintains a close relationship with the Argentine president since his arrival in power.

The visit has been accompanied by new criticisms of the Spanish Executive. During his speech at the New Economy Forum, Milei lashed out at Sánchez and called for the socialists to leave the Government, in statements that again highlight the political distance between the two.

The choice of Fanático thus introduces a cultural reference into a confrontation that usually unfolds through public statements and messages on social media. Sánchez has not accompanied the image with an explicit comment about Milei, but the context of the publication has reinforced its political reading.

The PSOE welcomes Milei with a banner in Ferraz

Lali Espósito's song is not the only gesture with which the PSOE has marked its position regarding the Argentine president's visit. The party has unfurled a banner at its Ferraz headquarters with the message: "Hello Milei. The leftists welcome you to Spain".

The slogan recovers the term "lefties", habitually used by Milei to refer to his ideological adversaries, and transforms it into an ironic welcome message. Sánchez has also claimed his status as a left-wing person on social media.

With his publication, the Spanish president now adds a musical reference to the crossed messages that accompany Milei's stay in Madrid. A song linked to the dispute between the Argentine president and Lali Espósito which, chosen precisely at this moment, functions as an indirect message without needing to directly mention its recipient.
