The journalist Carlos Alsina, from his monologue on Más de uno, has analyzed the statement of Víctor de Aldama in the masks case, launching a clear conclusion: “Regarding Sánchez, all he has contributed is a photo”. For the communicator, the so-called pentito has achieved a great media impact, but without translating into direct judicial consequences against the president.
Alsina has differentiated between the evidence provided against other implicated parties, such as José Luis Ábalos or his former advisor Koldo García, where messages, annotations, and evidence would exist, in contrast to the accusations against Sánchez, based —as he pointed out— on indirect accounts: “What Koldo says. What Aldama says Koldo told him”. In this sense, he has stressed that neither the Unidad Central Operativa nor the investigating judge have pointed to the president in the case.
The journalist has also focused on the figure of the repentant in the judicial sphere, pointing out that its value does not lie in moral repentance, but in its capacity to provide evidence that benefits him criminally. Thus, he has argued that Aldama, despite his strategy, has not managed to sustain with evidence his most serious accusations against Sánchez, although he has opened questions in other lines of investigation, such as the alleged irregular financing of the PSOE. “Has Mr. Aldama provided evidence of this in the other investigation that is open? It is not known. Through there, some problems could indeed reach the Partido Socialista. A great media impact and we will see how much criminal impact”, the communicator has stated.
All in all, Alsina has concluded that there is a political responsibility of the president, not for leading the plot, but for having been at the head of an environment where this would have prospered: a context that, in his opinion, allowed corruption to grow unchecked within his own Government.
