The 98th edition of the Academy Awards already has winners. The big winner of the night was One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, which took home six statuettes, among them Best Picture and Best Director. The gala, held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, also featured as protagonists Michael B. Jordan, awarded as best actor for Sinners, and Jessie Buckley, who won the Oscar for best actress for Hamnet.
Among the most outstanding productions was also Sinners, which won several technical and screenplay awards, consolidating itself as one of the season's big favorites. However, not all nominees managed to convert their candidacies into awards: the film Sirat, which started with several nominations, finally ended up without any statuette during the ceremony.
The Academy handed out awards in 24 categories, recognizing everything from performances to technical sections. Among them, KPop Demon Hunters took home the award for Best Animated Film, while Frankenstein stood out in technical categories such as costume and production design. The gala also confirmed the dominance of One Battle After Another, which in addition to the main awards added accolades in adapted screenplay, editing, and casting.
