The Seventh adds talent and experience with Rocío Delgado, its second big signing after Javier Ruiz

La Séptima continues to shape its new television project and already has its second big face. The network announced this Thursday the signing of Rocío Delgado, a journalist with an extensive career in television who joins the team a few days after the arrival of Javier Ruiz from RTVE was confirmed.

The Vigo-born presenter announced her incorporation through a lighthearted video in which she holds a fictional conversation with Ruiz and claims that the new channel should have voices from different parts of Spain. "Were you all going to be Madrid guys?" Delgado asks before defending the presence of Galicia and resolving the signing herself with a resounding "I'm coming over there!".

The piece also leaves a first clue about her role in the schedule. Rocío Delgado will be at the helm of a daily program, although the network still keeps the details of the format and its schedule. The naturalness of the announcement also allows us to see one of the qualities that the journalist brings to the project, her ability to move closely between information and entertainment.

Delgado, 41, comes from TVG, where she recently presented the magazine 'O Termómetro' and previously hosted 'Xuntos en directo'. In 2023 she worked at RTVE as co-presenter of the scientific dissemination program 'Curiosity', broadcast on La 2, and was also part of the 'Mañaneros' team. Her career is especially linked to Telemadrid, a channel where she worked for fifteen years as a reporter, news presenter and host of programs such as 'Juntos' and 'Desmontando Madrid'.

This experience in different genres and time slots fits with the television that La Séptima is preparing. The journalist has worked with breaking news, major news coverage, daily programs and cultural formats. Her incorporation brings professionalism, versatility and a recognizable presence to a channel that wants to build its own identity from its birth.

The project promoted by José Miguel Contreras aims to create a generalist television channel closely linked to current events, but supported by conversation, explanation, and analysis formats. As Contreras explained in an interview with EFE, the intention is to make the channel a reference for understanding what is happening in Spain and what worries people, taking advantage of the space that live television retains compared to platforms.

The schedule will be organized around four main moments of the day, with a morning of news updates, an afternoon dedicated to analysis, a more dynamic evening, and a prime time focused on reflection and balance. Javier Ruiz and Rocío Delgado already represent the first two visible pieces of this commitment to journalists with experience, personality, and the ability to explain current events in an accessible way.

La Séptima will begin its broadcasts on November 5 and will have its first major presentation before that. Between September 7 and 12, the channel will present its programming and part of its staff at the FesTVal in Vitoria, where new formats and signings will be announced. Rocío Delgado will arrive at that event with the move underway and a daily program waiting for her.
