The interview of Silvia Intxaurrondo with Miguel Tellado on 'La hora de La 1' experienced several moments of tension this Tuesday after the general secretary of the PP questioned the journalist's questions and attacked RTVE. The presenter then offered him time to express his criticisms and then continue with the scheduled topics.

The exchange began regarding the political responsibilities for the Urda railway accident, which caused 69 deaths last week in Toledo. Tellado insisted on demanding the resignation of the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, while Intxaurrondo asked him if the PP had applied the same criterion in the face of other tragedies that occurred under governments of his party, including the DANA in Valencia.

The question led the popular leader to point to the La 1 program itself. Tellado accused the program of having demanded the departure of the then Valencian president, Carlos Mazón, and of now endorsing Puente's continuity. "What is the reason for the change in criteria of 'La hora de La 1'?" he asked.

"We are not endorsing anything", Intxaurrondo replied. The journalist insisted that she wanted to know the PP's position on the management of the DANA, after her interviewee demanded accountability from the Government for the railway tragedy.

Tellado has maintained that Mazón resigned and assumed his responsibility. The presenter reminded him that he did so a year after the floods of October 29, 2024. The former Valencian president left office in November 2025 after months of criticism for his government's response to the emergency.

The general secretary of the PP has also attributed the Valencian tragedy to the lack of warnings from the central government. Intxaurrondo replied that there were warnings and recalled the coverage her program provided from early that day. The State Meteorological Agency issued red alerts during the morning; the massive alert to the population's mobile phones, which was the responsibility of the Generalitat to send, arrived at 8:11 p.m.

"Launch your criticism and we'll return to current events"

Tellado extended his reproaches to public television and accused the government of using it politically. At several points, he ironically questioned the issues raised by Intxaurrondo and stated that she was doing a program of "raging current events".

"Sometimes current events are raging, but we cover all kinds of current events," the presenter replied. The popular leader returned to the issue when the interview addressed housing and assured that he found the journalist's questions curious.

Afterward, Tellado stated that PP voters had been insulted on the program and promised that, if Feijóo governs, at RTVE "there will be no manipulation as there is today". Given the reiteration of his criticisms, Intxaurrondo gave him the floor.

"Mr. Tellado, your criticisms of RTVE are well known, you have expressed them in previous interviews, you are reiterating them in this one... You have the floor, I'm listening. Launch your criticism and when you finish we will return to the current affairs we want to address with you," she stated.

Tellado took the opportunity to accuse the Government of having put the public corporation at its service. He specified that, according to his version, he was not questioning the professionalism of the workers, but the "bad political use" of RTVE, and promised that the PP would be in charge of "depoliticizing it."

Once the criticism was expressed, Intxaurrondo resumed the conversation. "Having finished the criticism of RTVE, let's move on to the matters I wanted to address in the interview," she said. Tellado then added that, according to him, his reproach was directed at the political use of the corporation.

Despite the tension, the farewell left a more relaxed moment. Tellado congratulated the journalist on her name day and Intxaurrondo reacted surprised when he explained that he was the first person to congratulate her that day.
