"We are here. Welcome to La Séptima". With these words, Javier Ruiz kicked off a new era of television in Spain. The channel began its broadcasts this Thursday at 12:00 p.m. with its editorial director at the helm and with a declaration of intent that summarizes the project it wants to offer viewers.

"It hasn't been easy, they haven't made it easy for us, but here we are," the journalist affirmed as he started the live broadcast from La Séptima's newsroom. Around him, the team that has worked over the last few months to launch a new free-to-air generalist television channel, promoted by José Miguel Contreras and with current affairs as its main focus.
Ruiz welcomed viewers to "their new home," from which he promised to accompany them every day. And he wanted to make clear from the first minute the two hallmarks of the channel. "A commitment to live broadcasting and a commitment to honesty and journalism. Those are our two birth promises," he assured.
The presenter of 'La Última Hora' showed the space from which the new television channel will follow national and international news. "We are going to cover everything that is out there and we are going to cover everything that happens when it happens," he explained, before insisting that the team will be attentive to the news to convey it to the audience.
A commitment to the audience
Along with live broadcasting, Ruiz has placed honesty and plurality at the center of the project. "We come to change points of view, to change the conversation, to pluralize the debate," he defended before the cameras, in a start that allowed viewers to meet the journalists and presenters who will shape the programming.
La Séptima is born, as its editorial director acknowledged, with the studios still under construction, but also with a team of more than 110 journalists and its own news services. "We are going to serve you what happens, we are going to serve it when it happens and we are going to have our own information and our own perspective," he affirmed.
Ruiz wanted to share that commitment with those who will be on the other side of the screen and made a request to them. "Don't let us become everything we have come to fight against. Don't let us become what we have come to change," he demanded.
The journalist then introduced the team that will follow current events on the ground and showed the channel's data and analysis center. There he uttered one of the most forceful phrases of the premiere. "Here the data will kill the narrative, the data will kill above all the false narrative," he pointed out, claiming the work of the professionals who will bring information to viewers every day.
Also on set were some of the new television faces, including Verónica Sanz, Sarah Santaolalla, Rocío Delgado, Noor Ben Yessef, Luján Argüelles, Héctor de Miguel, Alba Carrillo, and Marta Márquez. Their first interventions left room for jokes and also showed the atmosphere of a team that was getting started after months of preparations.
Carlos Cuerpo, Gabriel Rufián, and Víctor Manuel, at the premiere
The first day of La Séptima comes with interviews and a wide range of information and analysis. At night, Javier Ruiz will welcome to 'La Última Hora' Carlos Cuerpo, First Vice President and Minister of Economy, who has also just assumed the functions of Transport after the resignation of Óscar Puente. The program will begin at 9:00 p.m., in the midst of a railway crisis and with network security among the central issues of current affairs.
Before that, Rocío Delgado will interview singer Víctor Manuel in 'Sobre la Mesa'. For her part, Sarah Santaolalla will take the helm of En Línea from 3:05 p.m. The presenter told ElConstitucional.es that she would premiere the program with four panelists and an interview with a politician, whose identity she preferred to keep reserved until the broadcast.
The daily programming is completed with 'El Pulso', by Verónica Sanz, and 'La Diana', by Noor Ben Yessef. During the weekend, 'Fin de Semana', with Luján Argüelles; 'La Comedia Nacional', with Héctor de Miguel; and 'Fuera de Control', with Alba Carrillo and Marta Márquez, will arrive, in addition to a film proposal on Saturday night. Europa Press collected the details of a schedule that will combine current affairs, entertainment, and humor.
The channel will also premiere daily tracking of voting intentions for the general elections on November 29. The survey, prepared by SW Demoscopia, will be released at 9:00 p.m. within the night programming, as announced by Ruiz at the presentation held this Wednesday. La Séptima can be followed on DTT, YouTube, and through operators such as Movistar, Vodafone, Orange, and Digi.
