The new lawyer of the ultra agitator Vito Quiles, Juan Gonzalo Ospina, tried to be part of the New Generations of the Popular Party (NNGG) and rise within the organization, according to sources from the PP exclusively for ElConstitucional.es. This occurred during the period in which Mariano Rajoy was president of the Government, between 2011 and 2018. Some years where Juango, as he is known within the legal world, tried to advance within the party, but according to sources close to the popular party "they did not let him". They also confirm that Ospina is not affiliated with the PP, despite attending events or parties organized by the NNGG, such as one last November 25 to which he was invited by Ignacio Dancausa, president of the popular youth in Madrid, along with Vito Quiles.
Ospina's ties with the PP are no coincidence. He maintains a close relationship with the one who was minister of justice between 2014 and 2018, Rafael Catalá, whom party sources consider his godfather. Catalá was present when the lawyer founded his law firm Ospina y abogados in 2020 and wrote the prologue to his book El abogado líder in 2021. A leadership that rose to fame in 2023 with the Daniel Sancho case, grandson of Sancho Gracía and son of Rodolfo Sancho, defending the victim, the Colombian Edwin Arrieta.
Ospina is the son of a Spanish mother but his father is from Colombia. In publications by Diario Red they link his progenitor, Francisco Javier Ospina Baraya, and two of his uncles, Juan Diego Ospina Baraya, alias “Chapulín”, and Mariano Ospina Baraya, with Pablo Escobar's drug trafficking. According to Diario Red, these are not the only illustrious relatives of the Ospina surname, the lawyer's grandfather is Mariano Ospina, president of Colombia between 1946 and 1950. In a tribute to this political figure Juango had a meeting with Pablo Casado, former leader of the PP, in 2018, with whom he supposedly maintained a very good relationship.
In this way Juan Gonzalo Ospina maintains ties with politics. The incorporation into the firm of Luis de las Heras Vives in 2024, who until then worked for Miguel Durán, former president of ONCE, had the defense of the leader of Se Acabó La Fiesta, Alvise Pérez. Now it is Juango who is in charge of handling the legal proceedings of another famous agitator, Vito Quiles.
