Juanma Moreno warns that Ceuta "can be a powder keg" and demands Sánchez act "with celerity"

The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, warned this Monday that Ceuta "can be a powder keg" if the Government of Spain prolongs the situation opened after the massive entry of migrants at the end of July. The Andalusian leader has demanded that Pedro Sánchez's Executive act "with celerity" and offer citizens certainty about the recovery of normality.

Moreno made these statements upon his arrival at the Nueva Economía Fórum informative breakfast, led by the president of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas, and presented by the leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo. The meeting brought together the national leadership of the PP and several of its regional presidents in Madrid to show their support for the Ceuta leader.

"The Government of the Nation must fully commit to Ceuta and give the people of Ceuta certainty and guarantees that they will now recover normality," Moreno defended. In his opinion, the Executive has faced the crisis with "disorganization, lack of planning, and indolence" in recent weeks.

Moreno defends Vivas' institutional loyalty

The Andalusian president also came out in defense of Juan Jesús Vivas against the PSOE's criticisms. Moreno described him as a "prudent, sensible, and mature" person who has maintained institutional loyalty despite enduring what he considers a dereliction of duty by the central government for more than forty days.

"One thing is to be institutionally loyal and another is to tolerate the government's dereliction of duty," he stated. Moreno also highlighted Vivas's trajectory as a "reference for coexistence" among the different cultures present in Ceuta and assured that attempts to discredit him "will fall on deaf ears."

The Andalusian leader called for the crisis to stop conditioning the daily life and economic activity of the city. "There is a lack of planning and too much indolence. It cannot continue like this," he insisted before reaffirming that Andalusia will continue alongside the people of Ceuta.

López Miras accuses the Government of being "missing" for 39 days

The president of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, shared his support for Vivas and intensified his reproaches against Pedro Sánchez. According to the head of the Murcian Executive, the Government of Spain has been "missing for 39 days" and the criticisms directed against other administrations seek to hide "its incapacity, lack of information, and also opacity."

López Miras has praised Vivas's "impeccable work, political stature, and commitment". "He is facing the situation that Ceutians are suffering and making up for the absence of the Government of Spain," he stated to the media.

The Murcian president has paid special attention to the concern expressed by some families regarding the start of the school year. López Miras considers it "inconceivable and unacceptable" that centers need police presence or private security to guarantee a peaceful return to classrooms.

Juan Jesús Vivas will travel this Tuesday to Brussels to convey the situation in Ceuta to European institutions and demand greater involvement from the European Union.
