The president of the Govern, Marga Prohens, affirmed this Tuesday, during her speech in the General Policy Debate in the Parliament, that if in Ceuta migrants arriving irregularly can be returned, it can also be done in Baleares, and she has called for an end to the arrival of irregular immigration.

In her speech, Marga Prohens has placed population growth, including irregular immigration, housing, and the transformation of the economic model among the main future challenges of the archipelago. “There is no room for everyone here, especially irregular immigration. There is no room for those who do not come to respect our laws and values,” said the president of the Govern.

Criticism of the central Government and reference to Ceuta

The regional leader insisted that, given the “abandonment” of the central Government, the archipelago cannot continue to host irregular migrants. In that context, she demanded “to curb the continuous arrival of irregular immigration.”

Prohens also stressed that what for a long time was presented as impossible in migratory matters, the return of irregular immigration, “now, suddenly, is beginning to be done in Ceuta.” “While we are having this debate, we have a city invaded,” she added in her speech before the regional chamber.

More than 900 minors and exceeded ordinary capacity

Along with that message, the president of the Govern drew attention to the “overcrowding” in the reception of unaccompanied migrant minors, a network that already exceeds 900 minors, more than double the ordinary capacity set “unilaterally” by the Ministry of Childhood.

The Balearic president framed these references in a broader diagnosis about the future of the archipelago, during a speech focused on the political lines that, in her opinion, Baleares must face.
