The magistrate instructing the case for the death of the founder of Mango, Isak Andic, has indicated in a writ the existence of evidence that, according to the police investigation, could point to a conflictive relationship with his son, Jonathan Andic, who has been released after paying a bail of one million euros.
The judicial document includes elements provided by the Mossos d’Esquadra that include alleged family and economic discrepancies between the two, as well as contradictions in the statements of the investigated person during the course of the investigation.
The defense flatly rejects these conclusions and maintains that there is no evidence to support the hypothesis of a homicide.
Freedom on bail and precautionary measures
Jonathan Andic was arrested this Tuesday and transferred to judicial custody in Martorell, where he testified for approximately two hours, answering only questions from his defense.
After his appearance, the judge decreed his provisional release on bail of one million euros, which was paid in a short period of time. As precautionary measures, his passport has been withdrawn, he has been prohibited from leaving the territory, and he must appear periodically before the court.
The axis of the investigation: the family relationship and police evidence
According to the writ, the Mossos d’Esquadra have analyzed for months the relationship between father and son, as well as the context prior to the businessman's death.
The investigation points to possible tensions linked to patrimonial decisions and inheritance planning, which would have generated discrepancies in the family environment in the months prior to the death.
The judge also notes that the instruction is based on the analysis of communications and alleged contradictions detected in the statements of the investigated person about the day of the events.
The death in Montserrat and the evolution of the case
Isak Andic died on December 14, 2024, after suffering a fall during an excursion in the Montserrat massif in which only he and his son were present.
Initially, the police investigation concluded that it was an accident and the case was provisionally archived. However, months later it was reopened after new proceedings, report extensions, and the analysis of material collected by investigators.
From that moment, the case began to be investigated as a possible homicide.
The defense: “There is no incriminating evidence”
The family's lawyer, Cristóbal Martell, has criticized the line of investigation and maintains that the homicide hypothesis is based on interpretations without sufficient evidentiary support.
The defense insists on Jonathan Andic's innocence and emphasizes that he has collaborated at all times with the investigation, in addition to demanding respect for the principle of presumption of innocence.
The investigation remains open and, for the moment, there is no judicial resolution on the merits of the case. The parties are now preparing for a phase in which the evidence collected and the pending expert reports will be analyzed in depth.
