The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, faces this Friday the second day of the Debate on the State of the Region (DER) with one of the issues that yesterday took a back seat at the center of the opposition's offensive: the controversy over the purchase of her luxury penthouse of six million euros through the public company Planifica Madrid.

During the first day of the debate, Ayuso focused a good part of her intervention on attacking the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, for the management of the migratory crisis in Ceuta. A strategy that was harshly questioned by the PSOE of Madrid, which reproached the regional president for using the debate to attack the central Executive instead of addressing the issues that directly affect her management.

The Government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín, also criticized Ayuso's attitude via X. “Ayuso has confessed, and it was not a slip, she governs against the Government of Spain,” he assured, before accusing the regional Executive of maintaining a “disloyal” attitude whose cost, in his opinion, the people of Madrid end up paying.

But socialist criticism was also directed directly against the president's patrimonial situation. The PSOE spokesperson in the Madrid Assembly, Mar Espinar, raised the tone against Ayuso when referring to the penthouse controversy. "From living so much like God, Ayuso has come to believe she is God," she stated.

Espinar also insisted on questioning that Madrilenians have to assume the consequences of what she considers the regional president's luxuries: "Madrilenians are not here to pay for her lavish life in luxury penthouses. Her gravy train is going to end. She has very little time left."

Más Madrid will focus on the penthouse

The opposition has already announced that this Friday it will take advantage of the second day of the Debate on the State of the Region to demand explanations from Ayuso about the real estate operation. Más Madrid wants the president to answer the main unknowns surrounding the acquisition of the property and, especially, the role played by the public company Planifica Madrid.

The party will demand that Ayuso clarify "who ordered the purchase of that penthouse, when it was, and how much it will cost Madrilenians." In this way, the luxury property will once again be at the center of the Madrid political debate after the president avoided making this issue the focus of her intervention yesterday. The day thus presents itself as a new front for Ayuso, who will have to answer questions from the opposition groups.
