The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, faced the Debate on the State of the Region (DER) this morning, in which she was expected to provide an overview of her Executive's management and offer explanations regarding the latest controversies pointing to her Executive, such as the purchase of the luxury penthouse of 6 million euros through the company Planifica Madrid. However, Ayuso focused most of her speech on attacking the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, for his handling of the migratory crisis in Ceuta. In this context, the PSOE of Madrid has criticized the attitude of the Madrid president.

Thus, the socialist spokesperson in the Madrid Assembly, Mar Espinar, has strongly criticized the regional president for the controversy surrounding her luxury penthouse and has raised the tone of her criticisms. "From living so much like God, Ayuso has come to believe she is God," Espinar declared. Along the same lines, the PSOE spokesperson insisted that the people of Madrid do not have to bear the cost of what she considers the regional president's luxuries: "The people of Madrid are not here to pay for her lavish life in luxury penthouses. Her gravy train is going to end. She has very little time left."

Ayuso avoids explanations

In the first half hour of her speech, which began at 12 noon, she focused her words on criticizing the management of Pedro Sánchez's Government in handling the migratory crisis after the massive entry into Ceuta.

Thus, she stated that the President of the Government decided "to continue with his holidays ignoring, first what happened, to then proceed to attack everyone he could, including the people of Ceuta and the intelligence services themselves, who had done their job."

"We have an absent president blackmailed by unconfessable interests, which is why he avoids holding the guardian of his most intimate secrets responsible. Then yes, the one who calls himself a dog, does have an owner, like all those who live in palaces," she expressed.

Nevertheless, opposition parties already announced that on Friday, on the second day of the DER, they will demand explanations from the Madrid president for the purchase of the property. In this vein, Más Madrid will demand that Ayuso answer "who ordered the purchase of that penthouse, when it was, and how much it will cost the people of Madrid."
