This is what Ayuso's controversial penthouse, bought with public money, looks like inside: private cinema, suites, and a huge terrace

A private and soundproofed cinema, five bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, dressing rooms, a high-end kitchen, a service room, and a 200-square-meter terrace with views of Madrid. That is the interior of the Chamberí penthouse that the Community of Madrid bought with public money and presented as a possible "temporary office" for Isabel Díaz Ayuso during the planned works in the Real Casa de Correos.

'Mañaneros 360' on TVE has exclusively broadcast this Monday the promotional video used to market the property. The images allow for the first time to tour the property acquired by Planifica Madrid on Paseo del General Martínez Campos and show a completely residential layout, with large rest areas, a separate dining room, and several en-suite bedrooms.

Journalist Pablo Collantes advanced the exclusive before its broadcast on TVE's morning show. The editor recalled that the property was advertised as an "ultra-luxury" home, went on the market for 6.6 million euros, and was acquired by a Madrid public company before the regional government decided to put it up for sale again.

A luxury home presented as a temporary office

Only one of the rooms appearing in the video was conceived as an office. The rest corresponds to the usual layout of a high-level home, as also established by the residential urban use of the property. This circumstance had already raised doubts about the possibility of moving institutional offices there without first making a change of use.

Presenter Adela González detailed in 'Mañaneros 360' the finishes included in the promotion. The home features top-quality marble, underfloor heating, and an advanced home automation system, as well as areas designed to receive visitors and directly connected to the terrace.

The images complicate the explanations offered so far by the Community of Madrid. The regional Executive initially defended that the penthouse would serve as support for the president and several members of her team while the Puerta del Sol headquarters was being rehabilitated. Ayuso later assured that it was still unknown who would work there and even suggested that one of her counselors could use it.

The exclusive has provoked new reactions among the program's collaborators. Sarah Santaolalla highlighted that the supposed office has a cinema, bedrooms, and kitchen and accused the Madrid government of making fun of citizens. Chema Garrido, director of 'El Plural', maintained that the images confirm the residential and luxurious nature of a property publicly presented as a workspace.

The sale increases the contradictions of the Ayuso Government

Planifica Madrid acquired the property on April 14 through an operation that remained out of public knowledge for more than three months. The purchase was not included in the public company's budgets nor did it appear on its transparency portal when 'El País' revealed the operation on July 29.

The regional government went from defending the acquisition to announcing its sale in just twenty-four hours. Ayuso has assured that the penthouse and other "four properties" located on Gran Vía will allow obtaining between 20 and 22 million euros to rebuild the municipalities affected by the fires in the Sierra Oeste.

The explanation has been questioned by the documents consulted exclusively by 'Público'. Planifica Madrid has a single property on Gran Vía divided into four registered properties, offices of 1,231 square meters located on the third floor of number 6. The public company had also been trying to sell them since August 2025, when it opened a tender for 11.7 million euros without VAT that ended deserted.

The appearance of the video adds pressure on an operation that has already provoked requests for appearance, requests for documentation, and a complaint before the Court of Accounts. The Madrid Executive still does not detail who proposed buying that home, what alternatives were studied, and how it planned to adapt a residential property to house official dependencies.

Doubts have even reached the Popular Party. Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo has become this Monday the first national leader of the PP to publicly question Ayuso's actions. Asked in an interview if she had understood the purchase of the penthouse, she replied with four words: "No, not yet".
