Pérez Llorca boasts of having "the largest device" against fires while reducing prevention investment by 10% with the backing of Vox

The Consell of Juanfran Pérez Llorca, and Vox, have agreed to reduce by 10% the investment allocated to forest fire prevention, which means 10.7 million euros less than in 2025. The adjustment is also accompanied by a 50% drop in the budget allocated to Environmental Education.

With this reduction, the resources assigned to the Directorate General for Fire Prevention go from 118 million euros in 2025 to 107 million during the next fiscal year.

However, the Valencian Executive assures that it maintains the reinforcement of other actions related to prevention, such as the increase in preventive surveillance services, the opening and maintenance of new firebreaks, and the construction of water tanks with the aim of facilitating extinction efforts.

The Consell's argument: the DANA eats up the budget

From the Department of Environment, they justify this decrease by the extraordinary effort made to finance the works of reconstruction and repair of infrastructures affected by the DANA. As they explain, during the last year, more than 90 million euros were allocated to these works, which are currently in their final phase.

Environmental Education as the great victim

One of the most significant cuts is the one affecting Environmental Education, which sees its budget reduced by half, with a drop of more than 140 million euros concentrated in personnel and purchase of goods. Investments in this area, however, do grow: they go from 9 to 21 million euros, although they do not compensate for the overall collapse of the item.
