The Valencian Community is preparing for a particularly intense episode of rain that will worsen starting this Thursday. The AEMET has updated its forecasts and maintains warnings for the arrival of very strong rainfall, which could become torrential and last until Friday noon. The most affected areas will be the coast and pre-coastal areas of Valencia and Castellón, as well as the north of Alicante.
In these areas, storms could leave more than 60 liters per square meter in just one hour and reach accumulations of up to 160 liters in twelve hours, especially during the early morning and morning of Friday. The warning for this Wednesday is yellow for rain between 3:00 PM and 11:59 PM in the interior of Alicante and the southern interior of Valencia, which may be accompanied by strong showers, hail, and strong gusts, according to Aemet.
Rain will intensify from Thursday
The episode will begin to gain strength from 2:00 PM on Thursday, when instability will spread throughout much of the Comunitat and meteorological warnings will increase in level in Castellón. The combination of high humidity and stormy activity will favor very intense rainfall in short periods.
Before that, during Wednesday afternoon, the first showers and storms are already expected, accompanied by possible hail, mainly in inland areas of Valencia and Alicante. Instability will increase over the next few hours. On Thursday, the yellow level for storms is maintained, which could bring hail and very strong wind gusts.
The situation could become especially complicated during Friday morning, warnings will rise to orange as storms gain intensity and rainfall could concentrate in very short periods. The coast and pre-coastal areas of Valencia and Castellón, along with the north of Alicante, will be the areas where extreme caution will be necessary due to possible significant water accumulations.

Up to 160 liters per square meter
The most complicated situation will arrive during the early morning and first hours of Friday, when rains could leave extraordinary accumulations in some areas. AEMET warns of records exceeding 60 millimeters in one hour and up to 160 millimeters in twelve hours.
The episode will remain active until approximately Friday noon, so it is recommended to exercise extreme caution, especially in areas where the greatest water accumulations are expected. Therefore, authorities and the Emergency Coordination Center ask the population to exercise extreme caution, stay informed about the evolution of warnings, and avoid non-essential travel during the hours of greatest intensity. They also recommend staying away from ravines, dry riverbeds, and low-lying or flood-prone areas, where water could accumulate rapidly.
