The president of Democracia21, Miriam González, has explained how she defines the political orientation of her party during an interview with 'ElConstitucional.es'. Asked whether her party is on the right, left, or center, the leader defended a way of working focused on solving problems.
"I deny topography", González responded to the question about her position on the ideological spectrum. The lawyer questioned the labels commonly used to classify parties and linked her answer to the purpose of doing politics differently.
González pointed out that "they have been telling us for so many years about these two Spains", while, in her opinion, those who represent these positions end up behaving similarly. "In the end, you see them act and all those two Spains act more or less in the same way," she stated.
Against this diagnosis, the president of Democracia21 has set the goal of her project to "demonstrate that politics can be done in a different way". To do this, she has advocated for the participation of people with diverse sensibilities within the party.
"We have people with somewhat different ideologies", she explained, before summarizing the attitude she proposes for working together. "Come on, leave that ideology aside a bit and let's get to fixing things."
The leader thus specified her answer about the party's political identity. "We are of the ideology of fixing things", she stated. "And with pragmatism, at least the important issues of the country must be addressed".
