The military escalation between the United States and Iran continues despite diplomatic attempts to reach a nuclear agreement and lasting peace. Barely a month after both countries agreed in Switzerland on a roadmap to negotiate a definitive understanding within 60 days, armed clashes continue to occur and keep the Middle East on edge.
Since the breakdown of the truce announced in early July, Washington and Tehran have constantly exchanged attacks. The United States maintains that its operations seek to reduce Iranian offensive capability against commercial navigation in the region, while Iran has responded with actions directed against US interests and those of its allies.
In this context, US forces carried out a new round of bombings against Iranian territory early this Monday, the tenth consecutive day of military operations. According to the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), the attacks targeted command centers, maritime infrastructure, missile and drone launch platforms, as well as air defense systems.
"US forces attacked Iranian military command centers, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defense systems to degrade Iran's ability to continue attacking commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz," the military body said in a statement. Washington also highlighted that maritime traffic continues to operate through this strategic corridor and assured that it has contributed to the safe passage of hundreds of vessels and millions of barrels of oil since May.

The new offensive comes after the death of three US military personnel in Jordan and Iraq, the first casualties recorded by the US since the end of the ceasefire. After the deaths were announced, Donald Trump issued a warning to Tehran and assured that "Every time Iran kills an American soldier, it will pay for it many times over". According to US data, at least 17 military personnel have died since the start of the offensive launched by the United States and Israel at the end of February.
Given the deteriorating situation, the State Department issued a global travel alert warning of the risk of an "unforeseen escalation" in the Middle East. Washington recommended its citizens to exercise extreme caution, stay alert to embassy instructions, and prepare for possible disruptions in international transport, including flight cancellations and airspace closures in different parts of the region.
