The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, has warned Más Madrid that they will be "directly responsible" if any "episode of violence against members, sympathizers or officials of the Popular Party" occurs, statements made from the Animal Protection Center after the controversy opened in the Assembly of Madrid.

Almeida has thus reacted to the complaint that the general secretary of the PP of Madrid, Alfonso Serrano, filed yesterday with the National Police against the spokesperson for Más Madrid in the regional Chamber, Manuela Bergerot, for alleged "threats", in addition to sending a letter to the Government delegate, Francisco Martín, in which he urged him to guarantee a campaign "in freedom".

The PP of Madrid's complaint about Bergerot's words

In a statement, the 'popular' Madrilenians explained that the complaint to the National Police arose from the statements of Manuela Bergerot in the Plenary Session of the Assembly of Madrid, words that the party interprets as "threats" by the spokesperson for Más Madrid.

"In the streets of Madrid there will be no peace," Bergerot predicted after the eviction and death of Maricarmen Abascal, a phrase that the Popular Party considers especially serious due to the context in which it occurred.

Almeida speaks of "hatred" and calls for an immediate rectification

For José Luis Martínez-Almeida, what happened yesterday in the Assembly of Madrid was "very serious", understanding it as "an appeal to confrontation and hatred in the streets". "Whoever does not want peace in the streets wants hatred, it is as simple as that. Whoever says that there will be no peace in the streets of Madrid, what they want is confrontation and hatred," insisted the mayor of the capital.

"What I hope is that there will be no episode of violence against any member, sympathizer or official of the Popular Party. I hope there won't be, because in that case Manuela Bergerot and Más Madrid will be directly responsible for what may happen to us," warned the Madrid mayor to the main opposition party.

Almeida also considered that Más Madrid "is taking too long to immediately disauthorize these words" from Bergerot, "to apologize and to reassure and guarantee Madrilenians that what they are looking for is a pre-campaign and an election campaign in which no incident occurs." "Because for now, of course, they are not demonstrating it," he added.

The focus on the Government delegate and Puerta del Sol

The mayor of Madrid has also focused on the Government delegate, Francisco Martín, and on a report he read in a media outlet about the existence of "radical and violent groups in the Puerta del Sol encampment."

"Is the Government delegate going to continue doing nothing? Because there is already a report that certifies that there are radical and violent groups, which have nothing to do with the housing claim or with the claim that has been made for Maricarmen, but rather have other types of pretensions, which are to sow violence," declared José Luis Martínez-Almeida.
