The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has censored this Thursday the PSOE for defending the right to housing while, according to her, it has "dozens of apartments" distributed throughout Spain and accumulates a patrimony superior to that of Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon. In her speech at the control session of the Plenary of the Madrid Assembly, the regional leader has asked the socialists to stop being "so brazen".
Ayuso has insisted on the idea that the party maintains a contradictory attitude regarding housing and has reproached the PSOE for its supposed obsession with penthouses, a criticism that she has linked to the reference to properties linked, she said, to Muface. "But if they have those of Muface in the saunas, which they are also renting to other people, stop being so brazen", she affirmed during the parliamentary debate.
Criticism of Montse Mínguez and socialist spokesperson Mar Espinar
The Madrid president has also referred to the partner of the PSOE spokesperson, Montse Mínguez, after several media outlets have published that she owns several apartments in Spain and companies in other countries. On that matter, Ayuso has maintained that she has "more assets than Jeff Bezos" and added: "She also has a boyfriend, if we are boyfriends we are all boyfriends, 30 apartments, who has more assets than Jeff Bezos, with yachts, with money in Panama, undeclared to the Treasury".
In the same speech, the president of the Community of Madrid has reproached the socialist spokesperson Mar Espinar for her behavior in the chamber, and has assured that her way of behaving "embarrasses her" when she talks about "her mother, her boyfriend or her family". Espinar, for her part, had previously accused Ayuso of throwing "nerve" and "insults".
Mar Espinar's response on housing and evictions
The spokesperson for the PSOE in the Madrid Assembly, Mar Espinar, has questioned that for Ayuso, Maricarmen, the elderly woman evicted from Retiro, is "a brazen person" and that those who demonstrate for housing are "terrorists". In her response, she has defended that the public debate is marked by the Madrid president's strategy to divert attention from the underlying issues.
"If you really haven't realized where all this hatred comes from, it's because you've spent too long without looking in the mirror. You insult so that we don't talk about what's important", Espinar lamented, also emphasizing that three out of four Spaniards are "in favor of intervening in the housing market". The socialist spokesperson added that Ayuso has "an insult for each of them", but she conveyed to her that those who do not share her position "are not brazen, nor terrorists, nor sons of bitches".
The discussion in the Plenary, between political reproaches and personal attacks
The clash between both leaders also came after Ayuso's references to the Government's statements about the entry of Moroccan ships into Spanish territorial waters, in a context of thousands of migrants arriving in Ceuta, an issue that the Madrid president described as "the last joke of the week". Immediately afterwards, she asked the socialist spokesperson if the attacks she denounces are "personal or punctual", in a control session marked by the exchange of reproaches between PP and PSOE.
