The deputy spokesperson for the Popular Group in Congress, Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo, stated this Thursday, in an interview on Telecinco, that the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, privately called the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, a “pájara” (a derogatory term, literally "bird" but implying a cunning or tricky woman), and that now, according to her version, he has “bought her silence” by placing her as number two on the PSOE list for Madrid for the general elections on November 29.

Álvarez de Toledo described this candidacy as “a list of privileged and silenced individuals” and insisted that Sánchez has “privileged” them and “silenced” them, an accusation with which she sought to emphasize, in her opinion, the political relationship between the head of the Executive and the Minister of Defense.

In that same part of the interview, the leader of the Popular Party (PP) recalled that Margarita Robles did not applaud Pedro Sánchez in Congress and added that both are “accomplices” of “the corruption of these years, of prostitution, of degradation and, above all, of the most serious thing, the invasion of Ceuta.”

Three versions from the Government on Moroccan ships

The deputy spokesperson for the Popular Group in Congress wondered how it is possible that Pedro Sánchez and Margarita Robles “concealed” from Spaniards that “Moroccan warships encroached” and “invaded the waters of Ceuta” at the same time as the land entry into the city occurred, when both appeared in Parliament.

After criticizing that the Government has offered “three versions” in recent hours, Álvarez de Toledo demanded the appearance of the President of the Government in the Permanent Deputation of Congress to explain “why he lied to Spaniards and why he protects Morocco.”

The popular leader defended that the relationship with Morocco must be based on “good neighborliness,” although, she specified, that involves “telling each other the truth and respecting each other mutually.” “There cannot be good neighborliness if one country organizes an invasion against another. If they send you 80,000 people, they take out 70,000, but they still keep some,” she stated.

Along these lines, she affirmed that “all those who entered illegally must leave” and added that the PP will militarize the border “if necessary.”

Feijóo, the Madrid list and criticism of the CIS

Asked about her name in the pools as a possible number two for Alberto Núñez Feijóo on the PP list for Madrid for 29N, Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo indicated that she could not confirm it and stressed that that position “is the least of it,” because “the responsibility is enormous.”

In her opinion, Spain is going through a “completely decisive” moment, in which one will have to choose between “decency or delinquency,” and she defended that “a revolution of decency is needed in Spain” so that citizens not only feel proud of their country, but also of their politicians.

Regarding the barometer of the Center for Sociological Research (CIS), which again places the PSOE as the leading force, the popular leader maintained that its president, José Félix Tezanos, is “a textbook embezzler” and added that, if the PP comes to power, it will “put an end” to those who, she said, are “colonizing institutions in the service of a personal power project.”
