Compromís has offered Podemos in the Valencian Community an agreement for the general elections on November 29 that would place the purples in the first position for the constituency of Alicante, while the Valencianist coalition would lead the lists for Valencia and Castellón.

Both formations are rushing the last hours of the deadline to register coalitions for the elections, which concludes today at midnight, in an attempt to unite forces to the left of the PSOE in a unitary candidacy.

Micó and Ibáñez, internal distribution in Valencia

According to sources familiar with the negotiations told Europa Press, Compromís has reached an internal consensus after the tensions of recent days, by virtue of which the hitherto deputy in Congress Àgueda Micó (Més Compromís) will occupy the first position for Valencia, while the second place will go to parliamentarian Alberto Ibáñez (Iniciativa).

Both will alternate the spokesperson position of the formation in the Lower House every six months, a formula that tries to order the internal distribution in a list still pending final closure.

The third position for Valencia had been reserved for Esquerra Unida, although the Valencian federation announced yesterday that it rejected that proposal after 75% of its National Political Council voted against it. The organization stated that they can “add with other political forces, but not be absorbed by them”.

Negotiation open until the end

Despite this rejection, Frente Amplio, the state space of IU, has indicated that it will continue negotiating until the end to try to achieve a unitary left list. In addition, consulted sources from Compromís insist that throughout the day “a last effort” will be made to try to incorporate EUPV into the agreement.

For its part, Podem has indicated to Europa Press that it is consulting its militancy on this pre-agreement, and that its leaders expect to know the result in the early afternoon.

In parallel, Més Compromís has also transferred the proposal to its militants to gather their opinion on the approach of Iniciativa-Compromís before the National Board, as established by the statutes of the formation, which expects to have the result around noon.
