The defense of Begoña Gómez has presented a new expert report before judge Juan Carlos Peinado with the aim of reinforcing the legality of her professional activity linked to the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. This is the third technical document provided within the framework of the investigation, in which both the income and the management of the funds associated with the extraordinary professorship she co-directed are analyzed.

The report concludes that said professorship not only did not generate economic harm for the university, but also yielded a positive balance. Specifically, it estimates at around 13,000 euros the surplus obtained thanks to funding from private companies that collaborated with the academic project.

According to the expert report, these funds were subject to specific agreements that obliged the university to allocate them to the previously agreed purposes. That is to say, they were not freely disposable resources, but earmarked funds that had to be executed according to what was contractually established between the parties.

The document insists that “there is no” economic damage for the academic institution, but “benefit,” considering that the income provided by third parties cannot be interpreted as a loss. Along these lines, it emphasizes that not executing those funds would have meant breaching the agreements and, consequently, having to return the money received.

Furthermore, the report rules out irregularities both in the entry of the funds and in their destination, defending that all management adjusted to the current regulations and to the acquired commitments. This argument seeks to counteract the doubts raised about the relationship between Gómez's professional activity and the public university.
