Rubén Sánchez has filed a second lawsuit for defamation against the ultra agitator Vito Zoppellari Quiles. The general secretary of FACUA thus takes a new step in the legal battle they have been waging for years and brings before the courts several publications disseminated between January and April 2026.

As Sánchez explained, Quiles attributed to him during those months crimes of harassment, disclosure of secrets, false accusation, and extortion. The messages pointed out in the lawsuit accumulated, in total, almost two million views on the agitator's social networks.

"I have just filed my second lawsuit for defamation against Vito Zoppellari Quiles," announced the head of FACUA. Sánchez maintains that the accusations were disseminated repeatedly and reached an especially wide audience, two elements that will now be part of the judicial procedure.

The formal presentation culminates the actions that Sánchez began to prepare in May, after Quiles continued to publish messages against him while the first judicial case opened between them progressed. It will now be the competent court that decides on the admission of the lawsuit and the next steps of the procedure.

A first case pending trial

The judicial confrontation began with a lawsuit filed by Rubén Sánchez for various publications in which Quiles accused him, among other issues, of committing extortions and scams. That case progressed to the prosecution of the ultra agitator for alleged crimes of insult and defamation.

In his indictment, the general secretary of FACUA requests nine years in prison for three continuous crimes of defamation, in addition to fines for serious insults with publicity and an indemnification of 60,000 euros. The request corresponds to the private prosecution and must be evaluated by the court during the trial, which has not yet been held.

Sánchez considers that behind those publications there was a campaign aimed at deteriorating his reputation due to his public activity and due to the complaints that FACUA files against companies, administrations, and figures with high media exposure. Quiles maintains his right to defend himself and retains the presumption of innocence while the case remains open.

The new lawsuit extends the conflict to messages disseminated during the first months of this year. According to Sánchez's account, the indictment issued in the first case did not stop the accusations either, and Quiles publicly linked him again with different crimes.

Another requirement for accusations about UGT

The action filed this Tuesday is different from the front opened just a few days ago by information published in "Combativos", the new fake news platform promoted by Quiles. In that content, Rubén Sánchez was accused of allegedly having used a false invoice and a non-existent company to collect for work done for UGT.

The FACUA leader rejected those statements, called them a "new hoax" and sent a formal request for rectification to both Quiles and his platform. The legislation grants a period to publish the version of the affected person when they consider that information contains false or inaccurate facts.

Sánchez then warned that he would go to court again if the rectification did not occur. That possible procedure would follow a separate course from the second lawsuit now announced, which focuses exclusively on publications disseminated between January and April.

FACUA also recently reported to the Secretary of State for Digitalization and the Spanish Data Protection Agency several irregularities that it claims to have detected in "Combativos". The association maintains that the page attributed its ownership to Combativos SL, a company that, according to its checks, was not registered in the Commercial Registry, while donations requested from users were directed to a personal account of Quiles.

Another month without accreditation in Congress

The announcement of the lawsuit coincides with a complicated day for the ultra agitator. The Congress Bureau has agreed to withdraw his accreditation for another month for interrupting a press conference by the general secretary of Podemos, Ione Belarra, held last February.

This is his second sanction within the Lower House. In May, he already lost his credential for three months for recording images in restricted areas of Congress and subsequently disseminating them. Quiles also has other open disciplinary files that could result in a definitive withdrawal if new serious infractions are confirmed.

This Tuesday, he also appeared telematically before the judge in Alicante who is investigating the complaint filed by Renfe for alleged fraud related to his train journeys. Quiles invoked his right to remain silent and stated that the case is part of a "political persecution".

The railway company claims that he bought tickets for shorter routes and then continued to Madrid, in addition to using higher-category services that he had not contracted. The facts remain under investigation, and there is no resolution yet on his possible criminal liability.

Rubén Sánchez's second lawsuit now begins its journey in the courts. The FACUA leader also maintains his request for rectification for the latest accusations disseminated by "Combativos" and is preparing new actions if the platform refuses to publish his version.
