The judge Santiago Pedraz has asked the PSOE to identify who signed the legal advisory contract with Jacobo Teijelo, the lawyer who later took over the defense of Santos Cerdán in the Koldo case. The proceeding is part of the 'Leire Díez case' and adds pressure on Ferraz due to the party's economic link with a lawyer also under investigation in the case.
The magistrate of the Audiencia Nacional demands that the PSOE report the identity of the person who signed the contract, the position they held, and the enabling title or internal agreement that allowed them to act on behalf of the party. The response must come through a person with power of representation of the formation, warned of their right not to provide information that could incriminate the party itself.
The decision appears in the same order in which Pedraz has summoned as investigated the director general of the Civil Guard, Mercedes González, and the deputy operational director of the corps, Manuel Llamas. That movement has concentrated much of the political noise of the day, but the request regarding Teijelo opens another relevant folder within the investigation.
Teijelo declared on June 25 that he was a legal advisor to the PSOE between October 2024 and June 2025. According to the investigations, he issued three invoices for a total of 125,000 euros linked to legal analysis work on certain procedures. During his appearance, the lawyer invoked professional secrecy to avoid detailing the content of these assignments.
The invoices and the incompatibility with Cerdán
The lawyer explained to the judge that, when he began to defend Santos Cerdán, the PSOE returned two invoices for a total amount of 50,000 euros, understanding that there could be an incompatibility. By then, Cerdán had already left the socialist leadership and was indicted in the 'Koldo case'.
The invoices appeared signed by the PSOE's manager, Ana María Fuentes, also investigated in the Leire case. Teijelo stated that he did not know her personally, according to legal sources present at his declaration. Now Pedraz wants the party itself to formally clarify who signed the order and under what internal coverage.
The UCO had already placed that contract within one of the lines of investigation into the maneuvers attributed to former socialist militant Leire Díez. According to the summary, Teijelo would have been designated by the former socialist militant as responsible for actions linked to the hydrocarbons area, one of the pieces that connect this case with the environment of the Koldo case and with the investigations into Víctor de Aldama.
Pedraz has also agreed to incorporate into the case documentation on the nationality file of the former Venezuelan vice minister Nervis Villalobos, which will be sent to the Central Operative Unit to advance in that line of investigation. In addition, he has added to the procedure statements by the businesswoman Carmen Pano, who claimed to have taken 90,000 euros to the PSOE headquarters and who testified this week as investigated for the alleged attempted bribery to make her retract that version.
The requirement now leaves the ball in Ferraz's court. The PSOE will have to answer who signed the contract with Teijelo, what authority they had to do so, and what internal agreement supported legal services that are already part of the summary of the 'Leire case'.
