The Popular Party (PP) has responded with irony to the announcement made by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, who has stated that his wife, Begoña Gómez, will file a complaint for image impersonation following the video created with artificial intelligence (AI) that was published in the pre-campaign for the general elections on November 29.
On its official X account, the popular party reacted with a brief message: “it could be worse”. Immediately after, they added: “They could have sent us to Los rochos”, in allusion to the clan linked to drug trafficking that, according to the PP, supposedly contacted the so-called Leire Díez plot.
Criticism of the Government and the PSOE
The PP has also conveyed its reply to the PSOE with a direct question about the situation of former socialist militant Leire Díez, judicially investigated for the alleged plot that sought to destabilize judicial cases affecting the socialists. In that context, the party has questioned whether the socialists have also “reported” Díez.
Among their messages, the popular party wrote: “The Government that wants to ‘eliminate’ a judge asks a judge to protect Begoña Gómez from a video on social media. They are adorable”, in a critical reference to the Executive's actions.
The PP also added that “the good thing” for the PSOE is that, if there is a trial, “it will be the first time a socialist sets foot in a courthouse without fear of leaving handcuffed”.
Bueno, podría ser peor. Podrían habernos mandado a Los rochos.

Images disseminated by the popular party
In the PP's version, among others, Begoña Gómez, José Luis Ábalos, and José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero appear. In that montage, the president's wife claims to be "left-handed" because she obtained a professorship thanks to her husband being "President of the Government"; former minister José Luis Ábalos maintains that he is also left-wing because he consumes prostitution and collects illegal commissions; and former socialist president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero states that he is "left-handed" because he "hides jewels."
The head of the Executive has framed the video within practices that, in his opinion, cross unacceptable limits in an electoral campaign and has reproached the PP for using techniques that, he said, are reminiscent of those used by harassers with minors.
Sánchez's criticism of the use of artificial intelligence
In an interview on the podcast 'Keep It Cutre', Pedro Sánchez also stated that the PSOE is not using AI for the 29N elections, in response to the letter sent by the Frente Amplio candidate, Ada Colau, who asked not to use this technology for "abusive purposes."
The president insisted that the use of this type of content should not be part of the political contest and defended that those who aspire to govern must "fight against this type of ideas," instead of promoting them.
The reproach to Alberto Núñez Feijóo
Furthermore, Pedro Sánchez directed his criticism at the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, whom he reproached for having "validated" these practices. In that context, he criticized a party that aspires to govern for resorting to content that, he said, uses the same logic as harassment.
The President of the Government defended that the political response to this type of campaign must involve explicit rejection of its use and condemnation of any abusive content created with artificial intelligence.
