The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has announced that his wife, Begoña Gómez, has filed a complaint for image impersonation following the video created with artificial intelligence (AI) that the Partido Popular published during the pre-campaign for the general elections on November 29.
As Pedro Sánchez explained, the complaint responds to the content disseminated by the PP on social media, a piece created with AI and inspired by the video previously published by the PSOE, in which the head of the Executive claimed his pride in being "left-handed" before the visit of the Argentine president, Javier Milei, to Madrid.
The images disseminated by the popular party
In the PP's version, among others, Begoña Gómez, José Luis Ábalos, and José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero appear. In that montage, the president's wife defends that she is "left-handed" because she has obtained a professorship thanks to her husband being "President of the Government"; the former minister José Luis Ábalos claims that he is also left-wing because he consumes prostitution and collects illegal commissions; and the former socialist president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero states that he is "left-handed" because he "hides jewels."
The head of the Executive has framed the video within practices that, in his opinion, cross unacceptable limits in an electoral campaign and has reproached the PP for using techniques that, he said, are reminiscent of those used by harassers with minors.
Sánchez's criticisms of the use of artificial intelligence
In an interview on the podcast 'Keep It Cutre', Pedro Sánchez has also stated that the PSOE is not using AI for the 29N elections, in response to the letter sent by the candidate of Frente Amplio, Ada Colau, who asked not to use this technology with "abusive uses."
The president has insisted that the use of this type of content should not be part of the political contest and has defended that those who aspire to govern must "fight against this type of ideas," instead of promoting them.
The reproach to Alberto Núñez Feijóo
Furthermore, Pedro Sánchez has directed his criticisms at the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, whom he has reproached for having "validated" these practices. In that context, he has criticized that a party that aspires to govern resorts to content that, he said, uses the same logic as harassment.
The President of the Government has defended that the political response to this type of campaign must involve explicit rejection of its use and condemnation of any abusive content created with artificial intelligence.
