The Deputy Secretary of Autonomous and Local Coordination and Electoral Analysis of the Popular Party, Elías Bendodo, defended this Tuesday a tax cut if his party comes to power after the general elections on November 29. The leader presented several fiscal proposals during a meeting in Seville with representatives of the food and transport sectors.

Bendodo pointed out that one of the priorities of a future PP Executive would be to support companies and professionals who generate employment. Among the proposed measures is applying a 0% VAT to essential products, with the aim, as he explained, of alleviating family spending in the face of rising food prices. The popular leader also proposed establishing a 10% VAT for the entire energy sector. During his speech, he referred to the evolution of electricity and gas taxes and argued that a tax reduction would allow for a reduction in part of the costs borne by consumers.

In addition, Bendodo reiterated the PP's intention to reduce the Personal Income Tax (IRPF). The party proposes these measures as part of its economic program for the upcoming elections, although their application would depend on the party coming to power and approving the necessary regulatory changes.

The PP's proposals for self-employed workers and young entrepreneurs

Bendodo dedicated part of his speech to self-employed workers, whom he defined as an important piece for the creation of small and medium-sized enterprises. In this area, he advocated eliminating VAT for those who invoice 85,000 euros annually or less. The proposal joins other measures that the PP has announced in recent weeks. These include reducing the administrative obligations of the self-employed, going from four declarations a year to two or even one, as well as establishing a zero rate during the first years of activity for young entrepreneurs.

According to the Popular Party itself, the plan includes two years of zero quota for new self-employed workers under 35 years of age. The party also maintains that the VAT exemption could benefit around 1.4 million self-employed workers. These figures correspond to the estimates disseminated by the party.

Bendodo has defended that facilitating the start of business activity can favor the growth of businesses and their transformation into small and medium-sized enterprises. The PP places the reduction of the tax burden and bureaucracy among its main economic proposals for the elections.

Bendodo criticizes the general strike planned for November 11

During his appearance, the popular leader also spoke about the general strike called for next November 11. Bendodo has questioned the mobilization and has stated that it will be the first strike of this type directed against the opposition, in reference to statements he attributes to the Vice President of the Government.

The deputy secretary of the PP has insisted that tax cuts will be one of his party's priorities if it manages to govern. According to his argument, leaving more money available in the hands of families and businesses can boost consumption and economic activity, which, in his opinion, would also contribute to increasing revenue and facilitating investment in public services.

The announced measures are part of the PP's electoral proposals and do not yet constitute approved tax changes. Their scope will depend on the outcome of the elections and the decisions adopted by the future Government.
