Isabel Díaz Ayuso raised her tone this Tuesday against Pedro Sánchez and maintained that the President of the Government is trying to "buy an election" so as not to lose power in the elections on November 29. The president of the Community of Madrid placed this political clash at the presentation event of Alberto Núñez Feijóo's candidacy for Madrid and turned it into a staunch defense of the PP's list.

In her speech, Ayuso stated that "sanchismo is destroyed" and accused the head of the Executive of acting "true to his style," without accepting "the rules" and with a drift that she described as "profoundly anti-democratic." The regional leader also maintained that the next electoral cycle will serve to close a stage that she described as "sad and decadent." Ayuso presented the scenario as a dispute between two models and assured that the current Government has left "a desolate panorama" due to its plans to "break the territorial and coexistence model of the Transition." In this context, she defended that politics must be temporary and that power "is not inherited, it is conquered," in a direct appeal to the mobilization of the popular base.

The Madrid president also attacked the left and assured that in that space "a new multi-owner and rentier" appears every time, while ironizing about housing and the PSOE. According to her account, the socialists govern "for interests and not principles," an accusation that sought to reinforce the contrast with Feijóo's project.

Feijóo, renewal and the weight of local names

Beyond the clash with Moncloa, Ayuso dedicated a good part of her speech to supporting the renewal of Feijóo's lists for November 29. In the Espacio Jorge Juan in the capital, she defended that the leader of the PP has opted for "the best and most experienced" of the region and for a combination of "bases" and "constancy."

The president of the Community of Madrid congratulated the candidate for bringing together "good men and women" and focused on profiles such as the deputy mayor of Madrid, Inma Sanz; the Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Interior, Carlos Novillo, number seven on the list; and the Deputy Minister of Presidency and Local Administration, José Antonio Sánchez. She also cited Alma Azcurra, Jaime de los Santos, Paloma Martín and Eugenia Carballedo as part of the generational change that, in her opinion, strengthens the candidacy.

About Novillo, Ayuso said he is "the best" and described him as an agricultural engineer and firefighter, two facets that, she stressed, make him prepared to manage nature, agriculture, livestock, environment and emergencies. She added that he has faced fires, the pandemic, winter inclemencies and "danas" (high-impact cold drops). In the same block, she defended that José Antonio Sánchez is the one who "best understands the rural world" and who is closest to mayors and councilors when a problem arises. The list, she said, combines institutional experience and territorial knowledge.

Mayors, spokespersons and organic renewal on the list

Ayuso also highlighted the presence of mayors of large municipalities such as Paloma Tejero, from Pozuelo de Alarcón; Rocío Alcántara, from Alcobendas; and Lucía Fernández, from San Sebastián de los Reyes. She maintained that together they manage more than 20,400 million euros, a figure she used to emphasize the weight of the local structure within the candidacy.

To that list, she added mayors and spokespersons from smaller municipalities, including Rafael García, 80-year-old mayor of Gargantilla de Lozoya; Janette Novo, spokesperson in Rivas; and Antonio José Mesa, to whom she attributed the mission of "bringing joy back to Getafe". She also mentioned Ignacio Dancausa, president of Nuevas Generaciones, and Álvaro Picazo, new regional leader of the youth organization.

The Madrid leader closed that review with Pedro Rollán, candidate for the Senate, whom she defined as "the most voted mayor in Spain" and as a manager "as" effective as "a good person," and once again highlighted Inma Sanz as a responsible person who, she said, has resolved every assignment received with flying colors. For now, the candidacy is presented and the political battle moves to November 29, when the PP will test that mix of renewal, territorial apparatus, and confrontation with Moncloa.
