Alma Ezcurra, vicesecretary of Sectoral Coordination of the PP, has increased pressure on the Government this Friday after the Supreme Court gave it five days to send the list of 163,020 people affected by the precautionary suspension of the vote linked to the so-called 'grandchildren law'. The popular leader spoke of an "ultimatum" and warned that "whoever disobeys will be held accountable."

Ezcurra conveyed her message in a video released by the PP and picked up by Europa Press. In it, she directly pointed to the Ministers of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes, Félix Bolaños, and of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, to whom the Supreme Court demands the nominal list of those affected before Wednesday.

The high court, according to the requirement known this Friday, has also warned that it could impose a fine of 1,000 euros on ministers who fail to comply with the mandate and reiterate that sanction until the full execution of the judicial ruling. The order also requires that the list be sent to the Contentious-Administrative Chamber, the Central Electoral Board and the Electoral Census Office.

The PP turns the judicial deadline into a test of disobedience

The PP leader has stated that "43 days after the first order" the Government already knows the exact number and knows who the affected parties are, because, she said, the State Attorney himself has acknowledged it and the Executive has processed each file. This accusation, however, does not alter the Supreme Court's mandate, which remains pending compliance and whose execution is now under the five-day clock set by the Chamber.

Ezcurra added that, out of 31,390 reviewed files, only 91 exile certificates have been issued. With this data, she concluded that "not even 1 percent" has managed to prove their family's exile without the presumption that, according to the PP, Sofía Puente's instruction introduced on its own.

The popular leader insisted that "it was not reparation" and reproached the Government for asking the Supreme Court to lift the suspension while, in her opinion, it hides the information requested from it. Her argument confronts the Executive's political intention with the judicial procedure, but the formal response of Bolaños and Albares to the court's request remains pending.

Electoral documentation enters countdown while the dispute remains open

Ezcurra has also warned that tomorrow the documentation for external voting will begin to be sent and that, without that list, this documentation could also reach those whose vote has been suspended. As he recalled, the PP already denounced it on Monday by burofax to Foreign Affairs and now maintains that it must be the Supreme Court that demands it immediately.

"A Government cannot hide behind its own negligence to disobey the Supreme Court", he defended, while linking the conflict to the legality and the census of a general election. Faced with the Executive's justifications, he stressed that "an instruction cannot change a law" and that "a census is not made without guarantees".

The popular spokesperson concluded that the party does not intend to "look the other way" and that it will go "to the end with all the tools of the Rule of Law". At this point, the next step remains in the hands of the Government and the Supreme Court itself, which has set a specific deadline and has already warned of possible sanctions if it is not met.
