King Felipe VI was aware of the entry of Moroccan Navy ships into Ceuta waters on July 30 and 31, the same days that the influx of immigrants arrived in the autonomous city from Morocco, according to sources from Zarzuela.
The same sources indicated that the monarch was informed by the Government of these events, although they did not specify the exact moment this notification occurred about events that have come to light coinciding with the first visit of Felipe VI and Letizia to Ceuta.
Pedro Sánchez admits an incursion of Moroccan ships
The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, acknowledged this Monday, in conversation with journalists during the reception offered by the Kings at the Royal Palace on the occasion of October 12, that there had been an incursion of Moroccan ships, as had been reported by 'El País'.
According to that media, the Navy also had to deploy ships to deter Rabat, in a context in which more than 80,000 migrants entered by swimming and through the Tarajal border into the autonomous city.
A situation that, according to the Government, was resolved through military and diplomatic channels
Pedro Sánchez did not want to directly link the incursion of Moroccan Navy ships into Ceuta waters without prior notice with the arrival of thousands of migrants, although he did emphasize that the situation was resolved thanks to a “very fluid” dialogue between the Navies of the two countries.
The President of the Government added that, fortunately, nothing similar has happened again and maintained that, between two neighboring countries, these types of “specific events” occur.
