The general secretary of the PSOE of Andalusia, María Jesús Montero, will make the leap to the Senate as a representative of autonomous designation after the decision adopted by the party's governing bodies in the community. Along with her, the former president of the Junta Susana Díaz and the former leader of the Andalusian PSOE Juan Espadas will occupy the socialist seats in the Upper House.

According to socialist sources confirmed to 'EFE', the proposal was endorsed by both the Regional Executive Commission and the Steering Committee held on July 3. However, the party has until July 20 to formalize the registration of the names before the Andalusian Parliament.

The definitive designation is scheduled for July 23, the date on which the autonomous Chamber will hold a plenary session in which the appointment of the senators corresponding to Andalusia by territorial representation will be put to a vote. The distribution of these positions responds to the current composition of the Andalusian Parliament. The PSOE, with 28 autonomous deputies, has three representatives in the Senate, while the PP has five thanks to its 52 seats, although it has decided to cede one of them to Vox, a party that has 15 parliamentarians.

The main novelty of the socialist proposal is the entry of María Jesús Montero in replacement of the Malaga senator Víctor González Fernández.
