The PSOE spokesperson, Montse Mínguez, accused this Monday the PP and Vox of wanting to "cut rights", including the right to vote by mail, labor rights, and pensions, even before the general election campaign for next November 29 begins.
Montse Mínguez criticized the request made the day before by the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, to avoid voting by mail, a position that has also been defended by the president of Vox, Santiago Abascal.
The socialist leader considered that request "extremely serious" and asked the president of the PP, Feijóo, to "disauthorize" those she called "his bosses", in allusion to Isabel Díaz Ayuso and Santiago Abascal.
Housing, pensions, and labor rights, at the center of the debate
The PSOE spokesperson also maintained that Vox intends to cut the "right to a dignified pension" as a result of the pension reform proposed by the party, while accusing Feijóo of wanting to "cut labor rights". "Another star measure," she exclaimed.
In her opinion, last Friday PP and Vox also positioned themselves "against the right to housing", a dynamic that, she said, is occurring "before the election campaign begins". In this context, she wondered how they would reach the day of reflection "if we go at this rapid pace of cuts".
Montse Mínguez defended that the central issue of the campaign should be housing and accused the autonomous communities and municipalities governed by the PP of hindering the Government's policies in this area. As she explained, the Executive put 7,000 million euros on the table to build housing and the Community of Madrid rejected 1,500 million.
In this vein, she pointed out that the PSOE's responses to social demands coincide with the measures approved by the Government, although she warned that housing policy is shared with the autonomous communities and municipalities, which is why, in her opinion, the Executive encounters obstacles in territories governed by the PP.
Support for the general strike and union mobilization
Asked about the general strike called by the UGT and CCOO unions, the socialist spokesperson defended that her party "always supports workers' rights and public expression".
"We are with the people who are in Sol and not with those who defend luxury penthouse housing policies," said Montse Mínguez, who also expressed her support for the demonstrators camped in Plaza de Cataluña to demand public housing policies and measures to protect access to housing.
The PSOE spokesperson clarified, however, that the unions have informed her that their approach involves defending labor rights and that there is still no fixed date for the general strike, so she asked to wait "step by step".
