Spain reinforces aid on the ground
The deployment of the field hospital of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) is part of the humanitarian response activated by the Government after the catastrophe. The START team has already begun to operate in Venezuela with specialized health personnel and capacity to attend to both emergencies and surgical interventions.
The device is made up of professionals from different specialties, including surgery, traumatology, gynecology, obstetric care, and psychological support. Its objective is to reinforce healthcare in areas where the health system has been most compromised by the magnitude of the disaster and the high number of displaced people.
Before departing for Venezuela, the contingent was seen off at the Madrid air base by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, along with Queen Letizia. During that event, the head of Foreign Affairs highlighted the START team's response capability and announced additional aid of 300,000 euros destined for the acquisition of shelter material for families who have lost their homes.
