The number of people rescued in the last 24 hours in Balearic waters after the arrival of five dinghies rises to 104

The Civil Guard and Maritime Rescue have intervened in five operations with 87 rescues in the last hours, which add to another 17 migrants intercepted this Tuesday morning

A total of 104 people have been rescued in the last 24 hours in the waters of Baleares, after the 87 migrants located in five pateras in recent hours were joined by 17 immigrants who were intercepted this Tuesday morning, as reported by the Government Delegation in the archipelago.

The first rescue operation occurred at 10:44 PM, when the Civil Guard of the Main Post of Santanyí and Campos intercepted 12 people of Maghrebi origin on the coastline, in Cala Barca, in Santanyí.

Minutes later, at 10:50 PM, the Provincial Maritime Service of the Civil Guard and Maritime Rescue rescued 21 people of sub-Saharan origin 0.5 miles south of the island of Cabrera.

The next vessel was intercepted at 11:05 PM, when Maritime Rescue rescued 27 people of sub-Saharan origin 4.6 miles south of Cabrera.

Dawn rescues in Cabrera and Cala Galiota

Already in the early morning, at 12:43 AM, and also south of the island of Cabrera, Maritime Rescue rescued 15 people of Maghrebi origin.

Subsequently, at 2:50 AM, the Civil Guard of the Main Post of Santanyí and the Civil Guard of the Main Post of Campos rescued 12 people of Maghrebi origin on the coastline, in Cala Galiota, in Santanyí.

Balance of the last 24 hours

With these actions, the authorities raise to 104 the number of people rescued in the waters of Baleares in the last 24 hours, in a sequence of interventions that has involved the Civil Guard, the Provincial Maritime Service, and Maritime Rescue.
