The PP accuses Sánchez's Government of turning "pointing out and labeling" judges and journalists into a "leitmotiv"

The Popular Party has criticized the words of the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, who has questioned the lack of “impartiality” of the magistrate María Tardón when taking on the investigations into the Ceuta crisis. In this context, the 'popular' spokesperson, Ester Muñoz, has pointed out that the Executive's targeting of the Judiciary is a “leitmotif”. 

The spokesperson for Alberto Núñez Feijóo's party spoke this Tuesday during the feast of the Virgen de la Encina and the anniversary of El Bierzo in Ponferrada, León. Thus, Muñoz has accused Puente of “pointing out and labeling” judges and journalists when, she believes, the government's narrative is questioned. 

The spokesperson for the Popular Group in Congress, Ester Muñoz, has accused the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, of attacking the judiciary and the central Executive of "pointing out and labeling" journalists when the facts do not align with their narrative.

In the same vein, Ester Muñoz has called the targeting the Government's “leitmotif” and has assured: “It is something we have seen throughout the legislature and when the facts contradict the Government's narrative, they attack whoever is necessary and we are seeing Óscar Puente evidently attack a judge.”

On the other hand, the 'popular' has reacted to the latest information about the document prepared by the Ministry of Interior on the list of journalists and their ideologies. "Today we have also learned about this black list of journalists made by the Minister of Interior, a minister who did not find out that 80,000 people were invading Spain through Ceuta, but he did have a black list of journalists to point out, to label, which takes us back to past times that we should not return to," said the PP spokesperson.

Óscar Puente attacks magistrate María Tardón

The Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, has given an interview on the 'Cadena SER' program Hora 25 where he commented on the latest information about the Ceuta crisis after the massive entry of more than 70,000 people into Spanish territory between July 30 and 31.

In this regard, asked by journalist José Luis Sastre about the opening of a case by magistrate María Tardón, to investigate the migratory crisis, Puente, has questioned her "impartiality". Likewise, he has maintained the Executive's position, stating that there is no evidence that the Government of Morocco organized or participated in the entry. 

"To date, she has shown signs that her impartiality can be doubted," the minister affirmed, alluding to the judge's past as a PP councilwoman in the Madrid City Council. 

Puente insisted on his criticism of the magistrate and defended that his doubts do not respond solely to her political career, but to a series of "facts" that, in his opinion, should be taken into account. In this regard, he recalled that Tardón, although currently serving as a judge, "comes from the political world."

The magistrate had declared this Monday the competence of the Audiencia Nacional to investigate the case and had sent a rogatory letter to the courts of Ceuta. In her resolution, Tardón maintained that "the behaviors subject to the procedure have attacked the form of Government" and that the facts could constitute "an attack, a violation of the territorial integrity of Spain."

The Minister of Transport also questioned that the opening of the investigation has occurred with the elements available so far. "I do not have the evidence that the judge has. If all she has is the police report, I don't know if it's a very wise decision," he pointed out.
