The Popular Party has requested that the Senate enable the month of August to hold several parliamentary commissions with the aim of addressing the migratory crisis registered in Ceuta after the massive arrival of people from Morocco. In addition, the party has asked the President of Congress, Francina Armengol, to promote a similar measure in the Lower House for the Government to account for what happened.

In a statement, the popular party maintains that the situation experienced in the autonomous city requires an "immediate" political response and demands that the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, interrupt his holidays to appear before the Cortes and explain how the massive entry of migrants occurred and what measures he intends to adopt to prevent it from happening again.

The PP recalls that it already registered a request on July 31 for Sánchez to appear in Congress, although it assures that the Executive did not attend to that request. Now, in view of what it considers a national security crisis, it proposes that the Senate convene during this month the Defense, Interior, Foreign Affairs and National Security commissions to analyze the situation.

At the same time, the party led by Alberto Núñez Feijóo has asked Francina Armengol to convene "as soon as possible" the Permanent Deputation of Congress to enable these same commissions and summon the competent ministers, in order for them to report on the actions undertaken after the migratory crisis and on the measures planned in view of the call for a new entry attempt disseminated on social networks for next August 15.

In its statement, the PP also accuses the President of Congress of protecting the Government by not promoting these appearances and maintains that the members of the Executive must "account to all Spaniards" and offer public explanations about the management of the crisis.

In addition, the Popular Group has registered the request for the appearance of the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, and the director of the National Intelligence Center (CNI), Esperanza Casteleiro, to appear before the Official Secrets Commission and report both on the incidents that occurred in Ceuta and on the prior information that, according to the PP, the intelligence services handled before the massive entry of migrants.
