The PP distances itself from Ayuso and her 'rigging' theory: "What we want is for people to vote for the PP massively by land, sea and air, in person and by mail"

The national spokesman for the Popular Party, Borja Sémper, has defended postal voting on Onda Cero and assured that "the system is a guarantor" and "there are controls" ahead of the November 29 elections.

The Deputy Secretary of Culture and Sports and national spokesperson for the Popular Party (PP), Borja Sémper, has stated that his party aims to have a sufficient majority to “govern alone”, although he does not rule out reaching agreements with other political forces if that serves to provide “stability” to the country. He also contradicts the theory of the 'rigging' installed by the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso.

Distancing himself from Ayuso and the possible 'rigging'

During an interview on Onda Cero, Borja Sémper has backed the system and distanced himself from Ayuso's statements about a possible 'rigging' by the President of the Government in the general elections.

Along these lines, the spokesperson has asked "to vote in person and by mail". "What we want is for people to vote for the PP massively by land, sea and air, in person and by mail. And not to stay at home. Let there be a wave of change in Spain. We want them to vote for us because we have a better alternative to Sánchez. The time has come for Feijóo."

The PP maintains a sufficient majority as its objective

Sémper also stressed that the PP “will not give up” on that purpose, and emphasized that his party's political offer involves achieving a majority “strong enough to govern alone”.

As he explained, that is the party's “aspirational model”, although he clarified that, if it were necessary to reach agreements after the elections, the party would do so because “Spain needs stability”.

Criticism of Sánchez and a call to “change course”

In his speech, the popular leader maintained that the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has placed “the destiny of the nation in political parties that have no interest in the nation doing well”, which is why he has called for “changing course” so that Spain “looks to the future with optimism”.

Borja Sémper has defended that it is necessary to “tear down the walls”, because, in his opinion, there is a risk that this division will end up “infecting society”. In that sense, he has proposed that the PP must once again “unite” Spaniards in a “common and shared country project”.

Feijóo, stability and a request for “more electoral distance”

The national spokesperson for the PP has indicated that this task will be carried out by the party leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, whom he has presented as a president who will govern “for those who have voted for him and for those who have not”, and of whom he has said that he will provide “stability and common sense”.

Therefore, he has asked for “more electoral distance” and a “strong and solid result”, considering that a lot is at stake in the elections on November 29, as citizens will have to decide whether to “continue four more years in this dynamic or change”.

“Let there be an adult in Moncloa again”

Among the objectives that, in his opinion, the next Government will have, Borja Sémper has cited the need to “re-establish respect and credibility of institutions” and to recover institutional respect.

In that context, he launched one of his most forceful phrases by demanding: “Let there be an adult in Moncloa again”.

He then stated that “it cannot be that a Minister of Justice becomes Attorney General”.
