The PP tightens the noose on Sánchez over Ceuta: documents "demolish" his version and they transfer their plan to Congress in the face of the migratory crisis

The Partido Popular brings this Thursday to the Congress its response to the migratory crisis in Ceuta for the massive entry of people registered on July 30 and 31 and after the Executive of Pedro Sánchez has made public 40 documents about the event in Spanish territory. The party will bring to the Plenary a non-legislative proposal with different measures to reinforce the border and streamline the management of expulsions, while questioning and intensifying its criticism of the Government's actions during the crisis.

The PP spokesman, Borja Sémper, has criticized the explanation offered by the Executive and has assured that the known documentation about the massive entry "undermines the very argument" of President Pedro Sánchez. In an interview on Hora 25 of 'Cadena SER', the popular leader has demanded that responsibilities be clarified and has reproached the Government that "no one has made a minimum exercise of humility."

In his opinion, it is "impossible" for some 80,000 people to move through Moroccan territory without the authorities in Rabat being aware of it. "Morocco, by action or omission, knew something," he maintained.

The PP spokesman also pointed out that the CNI had detected relevant movements before the massive arrival in Ceuta. "The CNI warned of considerable movements, and I understand that if the CNI alerts this, measures are adopted," he stated. For Sémper, the Executive's reaction was not up to the available information: "When intelligence warns that security can be compromised, a Government has to take measures."

While maintaining this critical discourse, the PP intends to transfer to Parliament its own measures to deal with the situation in Ceuta. Its initiative is articulated around four areas: infrastructure, human resources, technology, and legislative changes.

Among its proposals is the extension of the Tarajal breakwater as a measure to reinforce the border perimeter, in addition to making the reinforcements of the National Police and Civil Guard permanent. The popular party also demands that Ceuta be provided with the necessary Immigration units to process the files derived from irregular entries and increase the means allocated to accelerate expulsions.

The plan also incorporates a reinforcement of health services and proposes requesting an increase in the number of judges and prosecutors assigned to the city. In the legislative field, the PP proposes modifying the Immigration Law so that the border rejection regime can also be applied to irregular entries by sea.

The party also proposes reforming the Asylum Law to differentiate entries made by force from applications submitted according to legal procedure. The objective of the popular party is that an irregular entry does not automatically imply the opening of the same procedure that corresponds to someone who submits an asylum application following the established channels.
