First arrivals at the Toledo University General Hospital

While transfers continue, the first relatives of people injured in the train accident have begun to arrive at the Toledo University General Hospital, in an atmosphere of nervousness and uncertainty for not yet knowing the condition of their loved ones.

At the doors of the Toledo center's emergency room, more relatives have been appearing, in dribs and drabs, both on foot and in their private vehicles, while ambulances with injured people and medical helicopters arrived.

The National Police has protected the entrance to the Emergency Room with a line of official vehicles and several agents, with the aim of preserving the identity of the affected people arriving at the hospital.

Behind this police barrier, dozens of medical personnel receive the injured in the ambulances that arrive.

The testimony of Toñi, mother of one of the affected

Among the relatives who have gone to the hospital is Toñi, a woman from Salamanca who lives in Madrid and who has been able to speak with her son, affected in the accident and who was traveling to Seville for work.

For now, she has not been able to confirm if her son has arrived at the Toledo hospital, although she has explained that she managed to communicate with him through another person.

“He got on the phone. He told me 'don't worry, I'm fine',” this woman said emotionally in statements to the media.
